The Merry Death Collector, Benjamin Wade Murphy
EURēCA: Exhibition of Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement
Documentary filmmaking puts life on lens and who knows what the outcome will be. The creative team chose Arnie Meredith to be the subject of the short documentary The Merry Death Collector. The oddball LaFollette, Tennessee resident collects and sells antique items from estate sales and recently purchased two buildings to house and run his business. The story follows Arnie’s struggle to open and maintain a small-town business. I Don't Want To Live Without You, Alanna F Wilkinson
EURēCA: Exhibition of Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement
One side of a cassette tape preserves a pivotal moment between two lovers from two different worlds. Through a recorded phone conversation and various mixtapes, a real story of true love unfolds between Navyman, Keith Wilkinson and waitress, Evelyn Espejo as they prepare for their new lives together in the United States. A black screen begins the story as the sound of a play button is pressed, and audio from a phone conversation is heard. Subtitles accompany the sound at the bottom of the screen. There is a cut to a photograph of Keith in his Navy uniform as Evelyn …
Lawrence Baron. Projecting The Holocaust Into The Present: The Changing Focus Of Contemporary Holocaust Cinema (Book Review), 2015 University of Richmond
Lawrence Baron. Projecting The Holocaust Into The Present: The Changing Focus Of Contemporary Holocaust Cinema (Book Review), Kathrin M. Bower
Kathrin M. Bower
Projecting the Holocaust is a valuable addition to extant scholarship on Holocaust cinema and offers a refreshingly inclusive and positive take on how feature films contribute to our understanding of history. In contrast to other surveys of Holocaust cinema, Baron includes films that focus on stories of perpetrators, non-Jewish victims, the experiences of the second generation, and neo-Nazi groups. This inclusivity is also evident in Baron's position that the Holocaust is not the property of specific countries or peoples and that its representation speaks to universal concerns about human civilization as well as to particular questions about national identities.

Screening Of "John Imber's Left Hand, The University Of Maine College Of Liberal Arts And Sciences
Cultural Affairs Distinguished Lecture Series
Jon Imber's Left Hand documents the life of a local artist suffering from ALS, which eventually led to his death this past year. As a review in the Boston Globe described, "Produced and directed by Richard Kane, the film is generously sprinkled with images from all the different phases of Imber's consistently impressive career. A protege of the New York painter Philip Guston, he created early work that included monumental figure paintings of great tenderness and originality; his later work became increasingly abstracted, loosely brushed, and open - influenced both by Willem de Kooning and the Maine landscape he loved, …

Breaking Into The Business: A Guide To Creating A Dynamic Resume Reel And Securing A Job In Today’S Television News Industry, Christina Favuzzi

It is becoming commonplace for reporters to work as one-man-bands, or “multimedia journalists,” shooting and editing their own video in addition to writing and reporting. For people looking to begin a career in the highly competitive broadcast news industry, there is a great deal of information to understand and consider prior to beginning the job search. Creating a dynamic resume reel is central to landing a job as an on-air reporter. However, with the development of digital-first and multimedia journalism, there are certain …
