The Advantage Of An Iterative Writing Process For Novels And Short Stories, Annie Jackson 2022 Liberty University

The Advantage Of An Iterative Writing Process For Novels And Short Stories, Annie Jackson

Masters Theses

Many writers struggle with completing a novel when they follow the traditional process of working through plot, character and world building problems in prewriting activities followed by sitting and drafting the story in a linear process scene by scene and chapter by chapter. This thesis proposes an alternate iterative approach. Iterative drafting creates multiple smaller versions of the full story that build to a first draft. By moving several problem solving activities into the draft itself writers can find increased opportunity for quick analysis, low effort corrections and a more efficient drafting method. Free Slave: Artist Statement, Thesis, And Working Novel, Leeland Francis Johnson 2022 Liberty University

Free Slave: Artist Statement, Thesis, And Working Novel, Leeland Francis Johnson

Masters Theses

This is a fictional slave narrative about a young man born free and taken into slavery. He wrestles with the concepts of forgiveness and mercy as he undergoes his trials and tribulations. As I am a white man taking on this endeavor, I wrestle with the artist's statement about how much care I have taken to make this a replica of a faithful slave narrative. I hope this work will be viewed as a tributary piece.

Covid-19 Isolation: Daily Lessons, Joseph S. Pizzo 2022 New Jersey Council of Teachers of English

Covid-19 Isolation: Daily Lessons, Joseph S. Pizzo

New Jersey English Journal

COVID-19 continually disrupts classroom structure, design, and the lessons being taught. A return to in-person, on-site classrooms is being challenged again by new variants and people’s desire to gather during holidays. Our goal as caring educators is to “educate rather than separate” as we “continue / To humanize / Our study / Of humanities.”

The Haunting Of Wright Manor, Katherine Holzman 2022 Bridgewater State University

The Haunting Of Wright Manor, Katherine Holzman

Honors Program Theses and Projects

The Haunting of Wright Manor explores the fear of the unknown, and more specifically, the hereditary nature of evil. “The phrase ‘nature versus nurture’ was first coined in the mid-1800s by the English Victorian polymath Francis Galton in discussion about the influence of heredity and environment on social advancement”(Serpell 2013), writes Mick Serpell in the British Journal of Pain. Essentially, “Nature versus Nurture” boils down to a debate of which character traits are inherited and which are the result of external environmental factors. Wright Manor’s protagonist, Victoria Mariano, finds herself struggling with the aforementioned debate. At the age of 12, …
