Student Activism And Curricular Change In Higher Education, Mikaila Arthur
Student Activism And Curricular Change In Higher Education, Mikaila Arthur
Mikaila Mariel Lemonik Arthur
While higher education is still far from universal in the United States, it plays an increasingly large role in shaping our collective understanding of what knowledge counts as legitimate and important. Therefore, understanding the college curriculum and how it is changed and shaped helps us to understand the overall dynamics of knowledge in contemporary society. This book considers the emergence of three curricular fields that have developed and spread over the past half century in American higher education - Women's studies, Asian American studies and Queer/LGBT studies. It details the broader history of their development as knowledge fields and then …

The Emerging New Human Being, The Culture-In-The-Self, And Ahp's New Multidimensional Intercultural Initiative, Carroy U. Ferguson
Carroy U "Cuf" Ferguson, Ph.D.
The emerging New Human Being will need to explore and come to terms with a phenomenon, operating deeply, uniquely, and diversely at a core level of all human beings on the planet. I call this phenomenon the “culture-in-the-Self,” a term coined some years ago by cofounders of Interculture Inc. What we commonly think of as culture is just the surface of this phenomenon, often appearing outwardly in the diverse “forms” of cultural scripts, beliefs, values, behaviors, and customs). The Risk Intelligence Conundrum And Its Impact On Governance., Mark F. Loves
Mark F Loves
This paper looks at intelligence led strategic planning, specifically within the context of an operational private sector corporate security unit which the author managed from 1994 to 2005. It examines the role, mission and objectives of the unit, with specific emphasis on management models, planning frameworks, policy and strategy, client relations and performance measuring. It develops the concept that risk assessment and intelligence development are in fact the same process, acting to direct governance and informing decision making at both tactical and strategic levels.

Transitional Adaptation: A Neoweberian Theory Of Ecologically-Based Social Change, Sherrie Steiner
Sherrie M Steiner
This theory presents an explanation for why the transition to sustainability posits distinctive challenges to social change toward sustainability. Civilization collapse is most vulnerable during the transition process toward sustainability due to increasing environmental fluctuations from environmental degradation. Collaborative relations between civic volunteers and governing bodies is considered as an important factor for adapting to these increasing fluctuations.
