Long-Term Tanf Participants And Barriers To Employment: A Qualitative Study In Maine, Sandra S. Butler, Janine Corbett, Crystal Bond, Chris Hastedt

Although welfare rolls have declined dramatically since the passage of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA) in 1996, many of those parents still receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) face multiple barriers to employment. In response to a proposed state bill increasing work requirements and imposing stricter time limits, the authors conducted focus groups and interviews in order to learn about the experiences of long-term recipients of TANF in Maine. The purpose of this study was to investigate intervention outcomes for domestic violence in families and adult children. This study targeted intervention outcomes of families and adult children from domestic violence homes for the purpose of comparing those self referred versus those who were mandated for intervention.

The Life Experiences Of Women Ex-Offenders Of Domestic Violence, Hope Hermosillo Mora

The purpose of this study was to examine the life experiences of women ex-offenders in treatment programs for domestic violence. This study provided this population the opportunity to tell their stories, their perspectives about domestic violence, their concerns, and their perceived needs, if any. The study aimed to understand women's subjective experiences with domestic violence, the various forms it took, and the content to which it was expressed. Overall, the findings from this study indicated that women did not perceive mutual violence as symmetrical; the violence perpetrated by the participants towards their spouse or partner was less severe than the …
