於本學年起,服務研習成為嶺大本科生的畢業要求。今期《嶺召》介紹三個學系的服務研習課程及計劃,以及海外交流經驗,讓讀者了解服務研習為授課導師、學生及社區帶來的成果。

Starting from this academic year, Service-Learning is a graduation requirement for undergraduate students of Lingnan University. This issue of “Slant” shares the stories of Service-Learning courses and projects from three academic departments and an oversea tour so as to demonstrate the positive impact of Service-Learning on course instructors, students and the community.

OSL Students' Service-Learning Project Output: Booklet

秉承嶺南大學的教學宗旨「作育英才,服務社會」,自2004 年開始, 「服務研習」滲入不同的本科學科裡,是一種結合學科理論及社區服務的新型教學方式,為學生提供全人發展的環境。從學生在服務中的體驗,不但能把課堂知識在現實中運用,並從中鍛鍊學生獨立思考及反思的能力,也培養他們關懷弱勢社群及關心社會。於2015/16 的第二個學期,嶺南大學中文系的「CHI3202 兒童文學」課程提供服務研習的機會,在課程老師陳惠英教授的出色領導、以及南屯門綜合家庭服務中心和救世軍東涌家庭支援中心的緊密配合下,學生透過該學科的服務研習,與中心小朋友及家長進行互動,以小朋友的真實經歷為藍本,撰寫獨一無二的兒童故事,再收錄為分享集。

服務,從來無分界限。一個笑容、一個擁抱,已經能傳遞愛心。去年暑假,一班大學生決定利用空餘時間走出香港,為一群素未謀面的陌生人服務。在服務的過程中,他們經歷過感人的故事、遇到過驚險的局勢動亂、嘗試過一人獨處異地、更學習過珍貴的知識。種種刻苦的磨練,都成為了寶貴的經歷和故事,為他們的歲月增添色彩。

就讓我們走過印尼、肯亞、埃及、台灣等地方,聽聽他們的故事,看看他們留下的足跡。

Service has no boundaries. A warm smile and a hug can spread love. Last summer, a group of university students decided to take a step out of Hong Kong to serve the unknown. During the service trip, they came across touching stories, encountered turmoil, traveled alone in unfamiliar countries and gained valuable knowledge. All these challenges and hardships are now precious memories that add meaning to their lives.

Let’s walk with them on their paths through Indonesia, Kenya, Egypt, Taiwan and other places, to feel and experience their exciting, yet touching stories.

In this issue of “SLant”, we will further examine the concept of “Think Global, Act Local”, while various Service-Learning stories will demonstrate how this concept addresses different global issues, including domestic workers, women’s rights and sustainable development, locally. We hope that by reading these stories, whether you are a local student or an exchange student, you will be inspired to address global issues locally.

嶺南大學服務研習處自2006年成立以來,一直致力推動將服務研習的理念融入課程,除了為學生提供多元化的學習經歷外,更推動社區與院校的合作,使老師與學生走進社區,學以致用,亦為社區作知識轉移及為不同需要的人士作出貢獻。

十年的社區協作,不單使服務研習處與地區建立良好的關係,更透過學生的努力,為社區帶來不同程度的影響。但是,究竟是什麼影響?我們將透過兩個個案分享,帶領讀者具體了解到服務研習怎樣影響社會。

The Office of Service-Learning at Lingnan University is committed to encourage integration between Service-Learning and curriculum since its establishment in 2006. Service-Learning provides diverse learning experiences to students, and facilitates partnership between university and community. Service-Learning brings instructors and students to the community and encourages them to apply, transfer and contribute their knowledge to people in needs in the community.

Ten years of partnership between Lingnan University and Community not only built up good university-community relationship, but also created different impacts through students' effort. However, what are the impacts? We would like to share with readers how Service-Learning …
