Integrated Condition Monitoring And Prognosis Method For Incipient Defect Detection And Remaining Life Prediction Of Low Speed Slew Bearings, Wahyu Caesarendra, Tegoeh Tjahjowidodo, Buyung Kosasih, Anh Kiet Tieu

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part B

This paper presents an application of multivariate state estimation technique (MSET), sequential probability ratio test (SPRT) and kernel regression for low speed slew bearing condition monitoring and prognosis. The method is applied in two steps. Step (1) is the detection of the incipient slew bearing defect. In this step, combined MSET and SPRT is used with circular-domain kurtosis, time-domain kurtosis, wavelet decomposition (WD) kurtosis, empirical mode decomposition (EMD) kurtosis and the largest Lyapunov exponent (LLE) feature. Step (2) is the prediction of the selected features' trends and the estimation of the remaining useful life (RUL) of the slew bearing. In …

In Theory, There's Hope: Queer Co-(M)Motions Of Science And Subjectivity, Cordelia Sand Nov 2016

In Theory, There's Hope: Queer Co-(M)Motions Of Science And Subjectivity, Cordelia Sand

Masters Theses

Given the state of the planet at present —specifically, the linked global ecological and economic crises that conjure dark imaginings and nihilistic actualities of increasing resource depletion, poisonings, and wide-scale sufferings and extinctions—I ask What might we hope now? What points of intervention offer possibility for transformation? At best, the response can only be partial. The approach this thesis takes initiates from specific pre-discursive assumptions. The first understands current conditions as having been produced, and continuing to be so, through practices that enact and sustain neoliberal relations. Secondly, these practices are expressive of a subjectivity tied to a Cartesian worldview, …

Developing An Optimum Maintenance Policy By Life Cycle Cost Analysis - A Case Study, Khaled O. El-Akruti, Tieling Zhang, Richard Dwight Jan 2016

Developing An Optimum Maintenance Policy By Life Cycle Cost Analysis - A Case Study, Khaled O. El-Akruti, Tieling Zhang, Richard Dwight

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

This paper focuses on developing maintenance policies for critical assets to improve the production performance based on life cycle cost (LCC) analysis. A general approach is adopted for conducting the LCC analysis. The investigation is based on a case study to demonstrate how an optimum maintenance policy is determined. The relevant LCC structure in the case study is defined for the decision process which involves determination of the optimum life, repair limit and selection of materials, and trade-off between repair and replacement. The LCC analysis is based on statistical data modelling which facilitates decision-making on the optimal replacement of an …

The Role Of Life Cycle Cost In Engineering Asset Management, Khaled El-Akruti, Richard Dwight, Tieling Zhang, Mujbil Al-Marsumi Jan 2013

The Role Of Life Cycle Cost In Engineering Asset Management, Khaled El-Akruti, Richard Dwight, Tieling Zhang, Mujbil Al-Marsumi

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

This paper presents a case study demonstrating life cycle cost (LCC) analysis as a major and critical activity of engineering asset management decisions and control. The objective is to develop a maintenance policy to control the economics of replacement and repair practice of refractory lining of an electric arc furnace (EAF). The replacement & repair policies involve the optimum life policy, the repair versus replacement policies, the repair limit method and the comparison of lining material types from different suppliers. The developed models provide a method for defining the most important factors involved in decision making with respect to operational …

99mtc-Dtpa Volume Of Distribution, Half-Life And Glomerular Filtration Rate In Normal Adults, Jennifer L. Holness, John S. Fleming, Alessandra Malaroda, James M. Warwick Jan 2013

99mtc-Dtpa Volume Of Distribution, Half-Life And Glomerular Filtration Rate In Normal Adults, Jennifer L. Holness, John S. Fleming, Alessandra Malaroda, James M. Warwick

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

Assessment of volume of distribution (VD) and half-life (T1/2) values during glomerular filtration rate (GFR) investigations is a useful quality control check. The aim of this study was to derive reference data for VD and T1/2 and also to provide reference data for GFR fro studies performed using 99mTc-diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid.

A Numerical Approach To Evaluate The Fatigue Life Of Monolimb, Nian-Zhong Chen, Winson Lee, Ming Zhang Jan 2006

A Numerical Approach To Evaluate The Fatigue Life Of Monolimb, Nian-Zhong Chen, Winson Lee, Ming Zhang

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

Monolimb refers to a transtibial prosthesis with the prosthetic socket and the shank being molded into one piece of thermoplastic material. Shank flexibility of a monolimb can improve gait and comfort. However, fatigue failure of monolimbs under cyclic walking load is an important concern. This study is to evaluate the fatigue life of a monolimb designed for a transtibial amputee, based on finite element analysis, the statistical Miner's rule and reliability analysis. Stress uncertainty due to modeling error and the scatter in fatigue test data were considered. Results indicated that the accuracy of fatigue life evaluation of monolimb depends significantly …
