This directory contains instructions for using various telephone systems and calling long distance, a thorough organizational listing, a quick reference guide, an alphabetic list of employees, and a world time conversion chart. The organizational listing gives the lists each division and the branches within it and the heads of the divisions and branches with their phone numbers. The list of employees includes the person’s name, his or her office extension and home phone number, office symbol, and room number. If the person listed was not located in Charlottesville, the alphabetic list tells where they were.

This document is a basic organizational history of the Foreign Science and Technology Center (FSTC). It describes how FSTC was built out of various Army technical intelligence organizations; traces its relocations eventually culminating in settling into a federal building in Charlottesville, VA; and traces its various reorganizations and changes in staffing.

Appendix A contains a detailed discussion of FSTC Table of Distribution and Allowances (TDAs) changes over the years. That analysis shows how administrative problems were handled and how the focus of the organization had changed over the years. This design memorandum presents for review the revised general plan and data for the Dickey-Lincoln School Lakes project, Maine, U.S.A. and Quebec, Canada to provide the basis for preparation of detailed design memoranda, plans and specifications. This document presents revisions to the basic project plan and related data included in the 1967 General Design Memorandum reflecting current water resource requirements. This memorandum serves as a functional design document and 1s presented 1n Phase II level of detail. However, 1n view of the long period of Inactivity, Phase I features have also been incorporated for continuity of project information.

The record book is a printed form book entitled, “Barrett’s Form of Soldiers’ Relief Record, Being a Record of Resident Indigent Union Soldiers, Sailors and Marines, and Wives, Widows and Minor Children of Same, Entitled to Relief under an Act passed March 16th, 1887.” Twelve pages record payments to `resident indigent Union soldiers, sailors and marines, and wives, widows and minor children of same. . .' This collection is composed of letters and postcards to Lillian from her brothers Donald and Darrell while they served and trained for WWI. Included in the collection are Lillian’s personal papers during her high school and early college years, such as programs, yearbooks, student publications, and grade reports. Also included are collected publications, clippings, and ephemera related to her brothers’ service in WWI.

It is uncertain how the folder of Clendenning letters written during WWI were added to the collection, but they are from Robert Clendenning (serving in the war) to his father on the home front.

This collection is composed of a typescript copy of a portion (pages 74-87) of “Autobiography of Dr. Thomas H. Barton, the self-made physician of Syracuse, Ohio, including a history of the Fourth Regt. West Va. Vol. Inf’y, with an account of Col. Lightburn’s Retreat” published by Charleston, West Virginia Printing Company in 1890. The document does not cover Barton’s personal life, and only discusses his time as a doctor for his regiment in the Civil War. The autobiography discusses military matters primarily but does go into details as to a physician’s life in the camps and treatment of wounds sustained …

The account book says on the cover, “John Garrett, His Book, 1830”. Inside is financial information whose context is difficult to ascertain due to the low quality of the scans. The original accession record states that the book is the account book of the unit.
