On 1st of June [Demining group] started clearance operation on mentioned task, they cleared 3350 sqm and found/destroyed 150 anti-personnel and 90 UXO till the accident time. On 23 June 2009 at 08:40 am when [the Victim] was working in his clearance lane a PMN2 antipersonnel mines went off and caused the accident. However the deminer had worn his PPE but he got some injures on his both legs, fortunately the injuries were not severe. According to the investigation report the ground was hard to conduct excavation easily, however the MDU was used for ground preparation, but it was failed …

It is the conclusion of investigation team that the involved deminer was excavation a signal in an area where the ground surface was hard with dense vegetation, and considering the crater created as a result of the explosion it seems that the deminer was excavating the signal about 30 cm on right side of the working lane where he was not in a stable position for excavating the signal by scraper; the excavation of this lane required to be done in next clearance lane.

On 9th Oct 2007 at 08:10 Hrs, the accident happened on [Victim No.1] the Asst. Team Leader of [Demining group] EOD-4 while he was shifting UXO to pit. There were three antipersonnel PMN-2 mines near to the UXO and the Asst. Team Leader has stepped on one of these mines which in result the mine exploded and cut off his right leg and he also received some injuries on other parts of his body.
