Broadly speaking, finances are often one of the most strenuous aspects of a relationship. One potential contributing factor to financial conflict experienced by couples are having different beliefs or attitudes towards money, coined previously as money scripts (Klontz, Kahler, & Klontz, 2008). Differing money scripts between partners can cause a breach in understanding of their partner's internal experience around money that may lead to misunderstanding and conflict. This may be magnified for copreneurs, or romantic partners, who integrate a personal and working relationship within a business’s ownership structure. The book focuses on her own experiences of child identity theft and the elder financial exploitation perpetrated by a loved one. Inspired by this experience, Dr. Betz-Hamilton went on to receive a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies and has since dedicated her research to the area of child identity theft. I exited from commercial sexual exploitation eight years ago. Here, I share my reflections on how my actions directly impacted other women. I describe how my participation in the sex trade adversely affected the wives and girlfriends of sex buyers. I posit that sex sellers negatively impact these vicarious victims by subscribing to and endorsing “sex work” ideology. I assert that the collective good of all women is diminished by viewing sexual services as a market commodity. I stress that the collective good of all women is enhanced by assuming responsibility and compassion for one another.

The traditional Chinese culture influences perspectives toward family, marital status, and living style in Macau SAR, where Eastern cultures meet Western cultures. Although the Western living styles and standards highly influence the daily practices of residents; broken marriage, single parenting, and divorce are considered taboo in the community. The purpose of this study was to understand how teenaged single mothers describe their sources of stress and difficulties in the city. The financial help-seeking behaviors of Millennials are explored and guided by the Family Financial Socialization conceptual model developed by Gudmunson and Danes (2011). Using data from the 1997 cohort of the National Longitudinal Study of Youth, a random effects probit model was used to estimate the probability of a respondent seeking financial advice at any point in time from 2006 to 2013. Results indicate personal and family demographic characteristics are associated with the decision to seek financial advice. Literature suggests that the practice of mindfulness may foster self-compassion within the practitioner. Mindfulness is also associated with increased empathy towards others. The current study explored the relationship between a mindfulness intervention and student clinicians’ levels of self-compassion and empathy towards a mock “client.” Graduate student clinicians were randomly assigned to two groups: one that participated in a mindfulness exercise then viewed a mock client video, and another that did not participate in the mindfulness exercise and went directly to viewing the mock client video. Most of the research on intimate partner violence has concentrated on overt physical and verbal aggression, and less is known about relational aggression in the framework of romantic relationships. Relational aggression is more prevalent in college students’ romantic relationships compared to physical aggression and may be a risk factor for intimate partner violence. Additionally, a number of adverse correlates have been associated with romantic relational aggression, suggesting that it is worthy of study independent of its association with intimate partner violence. This study explored feelings of cultural homelessness, self-esteem, and skin color satisfaction among Latinxs. A close interest was placed in examining responses of participants who identified as racially Black or Afro-Latinx. This exploratory case study examines the impact of text messaging on mentoring relationships when used as an outreach between school counselors and high school students, where established relationships are lacking. An SMS gateway was used to mediate communication between school counselors (N=2) and students (N=5) over a three-month timeframe. The SMS gateway converted email, sent from counselors, to text messages, which were received on mobile devices of students and allowed students to respond back to counselors. Findings indicate that the use of text messaging may ease scheduling of face-to-face meetings between counselors and students, but evidence does not support any …

The current research explores the potential for mental imagery to be utilized as a cognitive tool to enhance intentions towards seeking psychological help via shifts in imagined visual perspective. The development of formal vocational guidance for women has been stalled by gender roles and expectations, restriction of occupational opportunities, and societal norms. Among women, the development of formal vocational guidance has also been stunted by racism and classism. A review of diverse women’s occupational experiences, vocational guidance, and utilization of interest inventories throughout the early to mid-1900s is provided. The impact of increased opportunities, social attitudes, and WWII on women’s occupation experience is explored. Experiences with UNM’s parental leave policy C215 have been evaluated using the ADVANCE 2018 Main Campus Faculty Climate Survey, a series of junior faculty interviews, and concerns brought to the ADVANCE leadership. Key findings are:

• Women and STEM faculty are more hesitant to use family-leave policies, and perceive greater disadvantage in using them than men and non-STEM faculty
• Sharing of information about, and implementation of, parental leave varies significantly between units
• The attitude of the department chair and senior faculty strongly influence the experience of faculty who use parental leave

In the decade or so before they retire, many individuals do not save enough money to maintain their lifestyle after retirement. According to the self-continuity hypothesis, as individuals approach a transition in their life, such as retirement, they are not as willing to sacrifice pleasure now to benefit their future, impeding their tendency to save money judiciously and to manage their finances prudently. This longitudinal study, however, tested the hypothesis that impending retirees who are agreeable or perceive their future as vivid and certain, called future clarity, are more likely to manage their finances prudently, despite this looming transition.
