Behavioral parent training (BPT) interventions are the gold standard treatment for preschoolers with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and have been shown to improve parenting, and therefore children’s behavior. However, treatment outcomes are dependent upon various child and parent factors. Less research has examined predictors of treatment response in preschoolers, including parental factors, which is important given the known benefits of early intervention.

Medication is the most commonly received treatment for childhood Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) with 90% of children with ADHD having received it at some point in their lives (Danielson et al., 2018). Central Nervous System (CNS) stimulant medication is a well-established short-term treatment for childhood ADHD (Pliszka, 2007). However, there is little support in the literature for long-term benefit of psychostimulants. One possible explanation for this lack of sustained effect is the development of tolerance to the drug. This study launches a program of research applying a social-ecological approach to understanding and promoting work-related well-being for after-school providers serving diverse youth in resource-restricted and urban communities. Persistent challenging behaviors occur in approximately 30% of children in Head Start, yet only 2% receive services. Children with persistent challenging behaviors in Head Start do not experience the same academic benefit as their peers. Left untreated, behaviors persist and are related to a number of adverse outcomes, which disproportionately impact children from low-income, culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Preschool staff feel unprepared to manage challenging behaviors and experience high levels of stress and burnout, indicating need for workforce enhancement. Information science points to socioeconomic disparities in health information seeking (access and need) that may decrease corresponding to increasing rates of online searching in underserved communities. Adolescents of color living in poverty are at elevated risk for mental health problems with limited access to quality care, and 21% of youth in poverty are diagnosed with mental health disorders that, left untreated, lead to significant long-term consequences. Positive future orientation – optimistic expectations for graduation, gainful employment, and healthy relationships – among vulnerable adolescents has been identified as a unique protective factor associated with positive mental health trajectories. Objectives: Our study utilized a multimodal approach to explore profiles of emotion regulation (ER) in mothers of young children with and without attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). We also sought to understand how parent factors (i.e., skills, stress, ADHD symptoms) as well as child factors were associated with membership to these profiles. Methods: The final sample consisted of 182 parent-child dyads. Sixty-six children were in the typically developing group (Mean age = 5.47, SD = .90, 74.2% males), and there were 116 children in the ADHD group (Mean child age = 5.41, SD = .75, 80.2% males). The current study aims to experimentally investigate the occurrence of mind wandering (MW) among children with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Participants included 59 children with ADHD and 55 typically developing children. Participants completed a sustained attention task that included non-target photos of people to which children were told to respond and target photos of animals—e.g., birds, bears, cows—that children were instructed to withhold response to. Daily behavioral report cards are an efficacious intervention for children with ADHD, yet there is little information on Latinx teachers’ perceptions about ADHD and preferences related to behavioral treatment, including the Daily Report Card (DRC). The purpose of our convergent, mixed-method study was to examine the feasibility and acceptability of behavioral consultation with Latinx teachers and students, as well as potentially associated factors. Rates of internalizing disorders in childhood are around 10% and higher among racial/ethnic minority youth and youth living in poverty. Targeting empirically derived processes associated with anxiety and depression may be an efficient and effective way to minimize risks for internalizing symptoms and impairment. The current work examined the feasibility and initial efficacy of the Summer Treatment Program for Pre-kindergarteners (STP-PreK) for 37 preschoolers with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Parents and teachers reported on children’s behavior, social/adaptive skills, executive functioning (EF), and emotion regulation (ER). Children completed a standardized achievement and EF battery and an emotion knowledge task. Improvements were reported in parent rated hyperactivity, inattention, aggression, and social and adaptive skills.
