The Impact Of The P.I.C.K. A Partner Relationship Educational Program On Single Army Soldiers, Morgan C. Van Epp, Ted G. Futris, John C. Van Epp, Kelly Campbell

Educating singles on how to develop healthy, romantic relationships can be beneficial to their subsequent dating and marital satisfaction, and for Army soldiers, their satisfaction with military life. A new relationship program, the P.I.C.K. program, was delivered to single Army soldiers, and at the conclusion of the program participants demonstrated an increase in their understanding of the crucial areas to explore and discuss in a premarital relationship, gained a better understanding of how to pace their relationship, and exhibited more realistic attitudes and beliefs about marriage and mate selection.

The underlying purpose of this study was to examine how the social portrayal of Asian Americans, with social identity as the moderator, may impact their career preferences for Investigative/Realistic professions. The role of Asian Americans' self-efficacy in math/science was also explored in the self-stereotyping process. Asian American undergraduate students of all majors were recruited electronically. Professors of Engineering and other science departments from the University of California, Riverside, Irvine, and Los Angeles were contacted via email and were asked to assist with recruitment by forwarding the message to students. The experience of stress in the workplace is becoming an increasing concern for employees and organizations alike, as research indicates that consistent exposure to stress is associated with negative physical and psychological reactions such as insomnia, depression and high blood pressure. WFC is a source of stress due to incompatible roles that conflict with each other in terms of ones time and energy. This study was done to develop a valid reliable measure of career and family responsibility in hopes of adequately determining the source of WFC. In this thesis, it is proposed that when indivduals apply cultural stereotypes about their social group to their self-concept, a phenomenon known as self-stereotyping happens. It can moderate the relation between achievement motivation and performance outcomes particularly in situations that have implications for gender.

Networking has been demonstrated as an effective strategy for attaining career success. The present study examined the relationship between self-esteem and media preference for engaging in social networking. The purpose of this study was to examine self-esteem as a predictor of media preferences for engaging in social networking in a work-based content. While networking relationships have the potential to benefit one's social and personal life, the focus of the present study is on developing relationships to build social capital and advance one's career. The findings of this study demonstrate the importance of self-esteem for engaging in social networking activities.

Stereotype threat is the fear that a person's behavior or performance will confirm an existing stereotype of a group with which that person identifies. The purpose of this study was to look at the effect of instruction and emphasis on the female performance on an analytical reasoning task. This study tested undergraduate students taking a psychology course from California State University at San Bernardino. This project focused on the concept that family childcare providers who completed "Building Literacy Bridges" intervention project, which included interactive early literacy classes on phonological and print awareness, dialogic and shared reading skills, as well as providing a literacy rich environment, would implement those concepts into their daily care with children. Nine family childcare providers completed the four-hour per week, four-week intervention project.

Faking: A Comparison Of Effective Methods, Devon Rachelle Fell

This experiment has been designed to investigate which methods of faking appear to be effective, and it compares the relative impact of dispositional and situational methods. This experiment tests the methods of sterotyping (dispositional), prior knowledge (dispositional), and coaching (situational) on the ability to fake an application for a sales job as measured by their scores on two dimensions of the International Personality Item Pool (IPIP) Five Factor Personality Inventory. A total of 271 students enrolled in at least one psychology course from California State University, San Bernardino, volunteered to participate in this experiment.

There have been many theories that have examined how leaders can be effective within an organization. The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not personality would strengthen or weaken the relationship between the quality of one's relationship with their leader (LMX) and performance outcomes (OCB). Personality did not act as a moderator. In order to test this, 127 participants of both men and women from various organizational and educational backgrounds were surveyed.

This research study examines the effects of organizational communication, a sub-dimensional construct on employee outcomes. It was proposed that organizational communication as indicated by timelines, reliability, and comprehensiveness of communication would predict the employee outcomes of intention to leave, job insecurity, and organizational cynicism in a negative direction. The present study aims to establish a direct link between insufficiences in context processing and cognitive deficits related to anxiety symptoms and thus enhance the overall understanding of the underlying mechanisms of the observed discrepancies in cognitive performance. The primary goal of the present study is to explore the relationship between early attachment experiences and later perspective-taking ability in young adults. Perspective-taking is important for the development of social skills, prosocial behaviors, and to ensure positive social interaction with others. A total of 165 undergraduate students were recruited from a midsized southwestern university and were asked to complete a questionaire assessing attachment security, perspective-taking, egocentrism, empathy, and narcissism.
