Economic Reforms And Growth Prospects In India, Lawrence, R. Klein, Thangavel Palanivel
Economic Reforms And Growth Prospects In India, Lawrence, R. Klein, Thangavel Palanivel
CAPS Working Paper Series
Starting in June 1991, the Indian government introduced a number of liberalising measures, including significant tariff reduction, abolition of all quantitative restrictions on non-consumer goods, unification of the exchange rates, and adoption of a liberal set of rules for FDI, and introduction of current account convertibility. While the industrial reforms seek to bring about a greater competitive domestic environment, the trade reforms seek to improve international competitiveness. The private sector is allowed in many industries that were earlier exclusively reserved for the public sector. In these areas, the public sector will have to compete with the private sector, even though …
中國自由貿易區的構想 : Wto 框架下中國大陸與港、澳、台經貿關係展望, 遲福林
中國自由貿易區的構想 : Wto 框架下中國大陸與港、澳、台經貿關係展望, 遲福林
CAPS Working Paper Series

What's Medieval Got To Do With It?, Carolyn Dinshaw
What's Medieval Got To Do With It?, Carolyn Dinshaw
Center for LGBTQ Studies (CLAGS)
President Bush's response to September 11 — he has called this "war on terrorism" a "crusade" — is terrifying in its own right, framing the future as a reprise of the medieval past: several centuries of battle between Christianity and Islam. It's "going to take a while," Bush said. The White House may have subsequently backed off that rhetoric, but the metaphor (if it is one) draws on entrenched habits of thought.
Evaluating The Judges In Baton Rouge, Susan E. Howell
Evaluating The Judges In Baton Rouge, Susan E. Howell
Survey Research Center Publications
The Baton Rouge Bar Association seeks to provide the public, lawyers, and the judges with some sort of evaluation of the judges in the Baton Rouge area. Since it is difficult for the public to obtain information on judges, the Bar Association relied on its own members and the members of the Louis Martinet Society to evaluate all judges, including city, state, and federal courts. Hopefully, the results will be useful to the public, the lawyers, and especially to the judges. Most judges can take satisfaction in the high regard with which they are held by the hundreds of lawyers …
Public Opinion On The Third Term City Charter Amendment (October, 2001), Susan E. Howell
Public Opinion On The Third Term City Charter Amendment (October, 2001), Susan E. Howell
Survey Research Center Publications
This survey of registered voters in New Orleans was conducted three weeks before the election and prior to intense campaigning. It should be considered a baseline survey. That is, this is the state of opinion that the Mayor faces in trying to change the Charter. As the referendum on the third term charter change amendment approaches, opposition remains strong. Over half of registered voters say they will vote against the amendment, and a third say they will support it.

Military Strategy In The Indonesian Revolution: Nasution's 'Total People's War' In Theory And Practice, Robert Cribb
Military Strategy In The Indonesian Revolution: Nasution's 'Total People's War' In Theory And Practice, Robert Cribb
Robert Cribb
Analyses the guerrilla strategy of General A.H. Nasution, architect of Indonesia's guerrilla resistance to the Dutch in the late 1940s and finds that his strategy, unlike that of Mao or Giap, involved keeping the mass of the poeple at arm's length from the guerrilla army.
