Developmental Dyslexia is a disorder manifested by difficulty in learning to read, speak, and write, despite conventional instruction, adequate intelligence, and socio-cultural opportunity. Although this disorder affects approximately 10% of all school children, it remains unknown to many teachers, especially those in the field of English as a Second Language (ESL). The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of the nature of this disorder and the current remedial methods and techniques being used.
