An Integrated Digital Services Model For Institutional Repositories, M Ryan Hess

DePaul University Library created a suite of digital services to support faculty projects which addressed common hurdles to repository adoption. In a faculty survey we ran in the fall of 2014, faculty reported an unawareness of the repository, uncertainty of how they might use it. However, they also reported that they placed value on the repository services we presented to them and a desire to hear more information. Anecdotally, we also heard the common refrain that faculty are too busy and too technologically challenged to engage with the repository on their own. When I started as an IR manager at Nova Southeastern University (September 2014), the IR had been live for 6 months and one of the in process pilot projects was a journal with 219 back issues dating to 1990. The journal was still on the demonstration site when I started. In this presentation I will discuss the ways in which I interacted with the journal staff, the full migration of all issues and the ensuing projects that have developed due to the primary editor’s interest. Open Access Through Institutional Repositories: The A3ir Con Experience, Brittany Blanchard

Institutional Repositories (IRs) are intertwined with the Open Access (OA) movement and are becoming a standard feature for research libraries. Utilizing the open web and indexing for search engines IRs increase visibility and access to scholarly works.

Since it’s creation in September of 2013 the Scholarly Commons currently holds over 4,000 works, that have been downloaded 136,548 times.

The Commons hosted the 2014 A3ircon Proceedings and will be the site hosting 2015’s proceedings. This poster shows how the proceedings were accessed as well as challenges for future conferences.
