Korean Immigrants’ Perceptions Of Library Services And Library Multicultural Programs For Asian Communities Before And During Covid-19, Yanghee Kim, Hyun Chu Leah Kim, Jihye Kim

This study explored 141 Korean immigrant parents’ use of local libraries to enhance their families’ social and cultural capital and adjust to the host country. We searched resources in Korean, and multicultural programs planned for the public and immigrants, Asian immigrants in particular, at two libraries before and during COVID-19. Parents reported dissatisfaction with library services because of language barriers (38%) and the lack of Korean resources (38%) and cultural programs (25%). Except for 18 books and 24 e-resources, no library resources in Korean were published after 2008. Before COVID-19, one multicultural program was offered for children. At Branches B …

Purpose

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether and in what ways library workers in the United States encountered patrons espousing beliefs in conspiracy theories and, if so, to explore the effectiveness of the strategies they used to address information disorder during the interactions.

Design/methodology/approach

The study was designed with an exploratory qualitative approach. Data were collected via an online survey posted to national and state library association listservs, utilizing a self-selected sampling method. Researchers inductively and deductively analyzed results, developing predetermined themes based on the research questions, then iteratively integrating unexpected data during coding.

This study assessed interactive technology competencies required by business education graduates in universities, south-south, Nigeria as perceived by lecturers. One research question and three hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. Descriptive Survey design was chosen for the study. The population comprises 146 lecturers in Universities, South-South Nigeria. There was no sampling since the population was manageable. A 32-item questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection. The instrument was validated by six experts and Cronbach alpha was used to determine its internal consistency which yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.86. Purpose

The academic community has warned that predatory journals may attempt to capitalize on the confusion caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to further publish low quality academic work, eroding the credibility of scholarly publishing.

Design/methodology/approach

This article first chronicles the risks of predatory publishing, especially related to misinformation surrounding health research. Next, the author offers an empirical investigation of how predatory publishing has engaged with COVID-19, with an emphasis on journals related to virology, immunology and epidemiology as identified through Cabells' Predatory Reports, through a content analysis of publishers' websites and a comparison to a sample from DOAJ.

This study empirically analyses the parent’s reading involvement with their children. A quantitative study with the help of survey design was conducted. The population consisted of parents whose child were enrolled in 6^th to 8^th grades (middle school education) in private schools of Lahore, Pakistan. Findings of the research indicated that the majority of the parents used with both formats (print and electronic) to promote reading habits of their children. Earlier this year, SPARC launched Connect OER—a platform to share and discover information about Open Educational Resources (OER) activities at campuses across North America. Through Connect OER, academic libraries create and manage profiles about their institution’s efforts on OER, producing valuable data that we use to populate a searchable directory and produce an annual report.
