This dissertation delves into the 20-year developmental history of Chinese video websites, with specific emphasis on major players currently in operation such as iQIYI, Tencent Video, Youku, Bilibili, and Mango TV. It critically analyzes the business model of Chinese video websites from five key dimensions—developmental evolution, market operation, content production, user relationships, and policy relations—providing a comprehensive understanding of the industry’s landscape. Second-hand transactions are gradually becoming an indispensable and significant form of the sharing economy; however, there is limited research on consumer behaviour in second-hand markets in an online environment. This dissertation aims to enrich the research in this area by analysing the impact of the characteristics of buyers, sellers, and products in second-hand markets on consumer purchasing intentions and behaviours. The study uses transaction data from Xianyu, China’s largest C2C second-hand trading platform, to investigate the factors that influence consumers’ choices between first-hand and second-hand trading platforms. In this study, we focus on the Chinese A-share market, and particularly on the CSI 800 stocks. Our aim is to conduct a comparison analysis of the prominent environmental, social, and governance (ESG) rating agencies in an effort to reflect the growing importance of ESG investment, social responsibility, and sustainable development. We mainly use three mainstream rating agencies’ rating data (i.e., the China Securities Index [CSI], Wind, and SynTao Green Finance) to conduct descriptive statistics and comparative analysis. Previous entrepreneurial exit literature has mostly followed a feature-oriented logic by summarizing the impact of industry and company characteristics and entrepreneurs’ personal traits on entrepreneurial exit decisions, disregarding the decision-making process of entrepreneurial exit and the role of key events in advancing the process. This thesis endeavors to explore the determining factors behind entrepreneurial exit decisions of family businesses and the dynamic decision-making process based on Event System Theory (EST) with a single-case study method and a feature-oriented and process-oriented approach.

Under What Circumstances Are Chinese Entrepreneurs Reluctant To Go Public, Ting Huang

As secondary stock markets often overestimate corporate value, many Chinese entrepreneurs seek to achieve their wealth targets by going public. However, some companies in China do not want to go public. This paper utilises multi-case research methods to develop theories about which factors lead to corporate reluctance to go public. Case studies show that compared with entrepreneurs with lower shareholdings, entrepreneurs with higher shareholdings have stronger long-term orientations and a greater desire for control and are more reluctant to go public. Industry characteristics affect entrepreneurs’ long-term orientation, desire for control, and early listing experience, thus influencing their listing decision-making. Empirical …
