On March 9 and 10, 2020, archeologist Aaron Norment from AmaTerra Environmental, Inc. (AmaTerra) conducted an intensive archeological survey with shovel testing on three parcels of land for part of the FM 2218 roadway project in Fort Bend County, Texas. This survey is for detention ponds and a segment of outfall line where right of entry was not granted during a prior survey along FM 2218. Total acreage surveyed for the three parcels measures approximately 37 acres. A total of 28 shovel tests were excavated across all three parcels resulting in recording one mid-twentieth century historic house site, 41FB363. Based …

Investigation included excavation of 919 shovel tests and 80 test trenches, and cutbank inspections, including portions of previously recorded Sites 41FB190, 41FB191, 41FB192, 41FB280 and 41FB281.

In June 2015, AmaTerra Environmental, Inc. began an intensive archeological survey for the Farm-toMarket (FM) 723 expansion project, north of the City of Rosenberg, Fort Bend County, Texas (CSJ# 0188-09-040). Work was delayed due to a lack of right-of-entry (ROE) into portions of the project area. After ROE was granted, archaeological survey was completed in late August of 2017. The total project length is approximately 9.3 miles, or about 228.11 acres, of which 97.9 acres are proposed new Rightof-Way (ROW). AmaTerra conducted the archeological survey under Texas Antiquities Permit No. 7293.

In March 2017, Gray & Pape, Inc., of Houston, Texas, conducted mechanical backhoe scraping and trenching on property adjacent to Oyster Creek within undeveloped areas within the Aliana Subdivision, Fort Bend County, Texas. The backhoe testing was conducted to investigate a total of seven anomalies identified using ground penetrating radar during previous investigations conducted in 2006 and 2007. These seven anomalies contained radar signatures that were consistent with possible human burials and thus were considered to possibly be burials associated with the yet undiscovered location of the Kirk’s Point Cemetery. On behalf of the Texas Department of Transportation, SWCA Environmental Consultants (SWCA) conducted an intensive archeological survey on December 16, 2016, of approximately 87.5 acres of existing right-of-way (ROW) along Farm-to-Market road (FM) 1463 near Katy, Texas, for the purpose of upgrading and widening the roadway. Investigations occurred along FM 1463 between Interstate Highway (IH) 10 and FM 359. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) plans improvements to Farm-to-Market road (FM) 1464 between Stratford Creek Drive and Oyster Creek, Sugar Land, Texas, in eastern Fort Bend County, southwest of downtown Houston. Those proposed improvements will expand the FM 1464 right-of-way about 20 feet eastward into an approximately 328-foot length adjacent to New Home Cemetery (41FB334), which is at the intersection of FM 1464 and Orchard Lake Estates Drive.

Geo-Marine was contracted by TxDOT to search, exhume, analyze, and rebury any human remains found within the right-of-way and under the existing roadbed of FM 1464. From mid-November to mid-December 2010, …

Index of Texas Archaeology: Open Access Gray Literature from the Lone Star State

Site 41FB191 is a camp site dating to the Late Archaic/Early Ceramic time period northwest of Oyster Creek in Fort Bend County. The site was found by a member of the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation (SDHPT) cultural resources staff during a routine archaeological survey for the proposed Segment "D" of SH 99 (Grand Parkway). When it was first located, the site had just been plowed and a number of flakes and a biface tip were found on the surface. Based on the amount of surface debris, testing was recommended in order to determine eligibility for the National …
