In 2014, the American Cancer Society estimated over 140,000 new cases of colorectal cancer and approximately 50,000 deaths. Health care reform was introduced in 2010 and became the cornerstone for Americans seeking change in the health care system. Health care reform is a critical factor in increasing CRC screenings by increasing coverage rates for all Americans.

Background: As a result of healthcare reform (HCR), insurance rates among Massachusetts (MA) residents increased from 86.6% (2006) to 94.4% (2010) and conferred a 7.6% higher probability of being insured compared to neighboring states. The effect of an individual mandate on insurance rates among trauma patients is unknown.

Methods: This was retrospective analysis of adult (18-64yrs) trauma patients from MA and surrounding states (NH, RI, CT, NY, VT) treated at our level 1 trauma center in central MA before (2004-2005) and after (2009-2010) MA-HCR. We estimated changes in insurance rates across time-periods and state-residence.

Objective. To understand the impacts of Medicare payment reform on the entry and exit of post-acute providers. Data Sources. Medicare Provider of Services data, Cost Reports, and Census data from 1991 through 2010. Study Design. We examined market-level changes in entry and exit after payment reforms relative to a preexisting time trend. We also compared changes in high Medicare share markets relative to lower Medicare share markets and for freestanding relative to hospital-based facilities. Data Extraction Methods.
