This article examines the regulatory framework of non-banking institutions (NBFIs) in Nigeria. Those institutions often referred to as non-banks have been identified. However, it is noted that in this paper non-bank financial institution are those defined as other financial institutions by the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Decree (BOFID). The objective of this paper is to present an overview of the regulation of the non-bank financial institutions over the years.
