Ouachita Baptist University students L.B. Hudson and Evan McKinnon were recently awarded first place in the university’s seventh annual OBU Business Plan Competition. A total of $9,000 in prizes was awarded to the top three teams and their faculty advisors.

Ouachita Baptist University professor Dr. Terry DeWitt presented research at the recent American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference and Exhibition (AAP Experience) in Washington, D.C. DeWitt presented his poster, “Four Week Lumbo-Pelvic Hip Complex Intervention Program and Its Effects on Tuck Jump Assessment in Active Youth,” as a part of the Council on Sports Medicine & Fitness for the AAP.

Eight Ouachita Baptist University students were named finalists at the 40th annual Southern Region National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) conference held recently at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Among the finalists, Esther Atkinson, a sophomore musical theatre student, earned two first place awards. Susan Monroe, OBU staff accompanist, also received the James Ronald Brothers Award for Outstanding Collaborative Pianist in the southern region of NATS.

This Spring-Summer 2015 issue features another successful book fest organized by the partnership of WKU Libraries, WC Public Library, and the Barnes & Noble Booksellers. U.S. Senate Confirms Ouachita Alumna Jane Chu As National Endowment For The Arts Chairman, Trennis Henderson, Ouachita News Bureau

Dr. Jane Chu, a 1979 graduate of Ouachita Baptist University, was confirmed today by the U.S. Senate as chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts. Chu was nominated for the post in February by President Obama.

The White House is expected to make the official appointment in the coming days and Chu will begin her new role shortly thereafter, according to the National Endowment for the Arts.
