Holocaust-Denial Literature: A Bibliography, John A. Drobnicki, Carol R. Goldman, Trina R. Knight, Johanna V. Thomas
Publications and Research
Holocaust-denial is a body of work that seeks to prove that the Jewish Holocaust did not happen. Although not all of the deniers, who prefer to call themselves "revisionists" in an attempt to gain scholarly legitimacy, make the same claims, they all share at least one point: that there was no systematic attempt by Nazi Germany to exterminate European Jewry. This bibliography includes both works about Holocaust denial and works of Holocaust denial.

The author believes that Holocaust revisionist materials should not be ignored by teachers, but should be used in classrooms as primary source material on anti-Semitism and intolerance.

The Confidentiality Of Library Users’ Records, John A. Drobnicki
Publications and Research
Many activities that take place in the library, including circulation and inter!ibrary loan and reserve requests, result in the creation of records linking clients to specific kinds of information. Several groups, including law enforcement officials, have attempted on various occasions to gain access to these records. This research paper provides a broad overview of the legal and ethical issues regarding the confidentiality of library user's records, including federal, state, and court protection for the confidentiality of library records, the status of library records that are part of a public institution, and a minor's right to privacy. The paper also discusses …
Lesbian And Gay, Polly Thistlethwaite, Daniel C. Tsang
Lesbian And Gay, Polly Thistlethwaite, Daniel C. Tsang
Publications and Research
"The lesbian and gay press has shaped and reflected the rise of gay and lesbian liberation," Dan Tsang and Polly Thistlethwaite wrote in the introduction to the 'Lesbian and Gay' section of Katzes' 1992 edition of Magazines for Libraries. This title review of the queer periodicals of the day was intended to serve as a guide and justification for 'mainstream' libraries' collection building. The number and range of titles in Thistlethwaite and Tsang's collaborative entries (1989, 1992, and 1995) far exceeded any mainstream library collection known to either of the authors who were nevertheless hopeful that libraries would expand …

Aids Information In Periodical Indexes: A Problem Of Exclusion, Polly Thistlethwaite
Publications and Research
The lack of attention afforded the gay, lesbian, and alternative press in mainstream periodical indexes has a serious, detrimental impact on the nature of AIDS information available to students of the epidemic. This title review of the queer periodicals of the day was intended to serve as a guide and justification for 'mainstream' libraries' collection building. Indexing For The Online Catalog, Arthur B. Chitty
Indexing For The Online Catalog, Arthur B. Chitty
Publications and Research
The proliferation of online public access catalogs (OPACs) requires some systematic rationale for the comparative evaluation of their designs. Considered as an indexing application, the OPAC can be analyzed by three features: the varieties of bibliographic data processed, the kinds of indexes constructed, and the ways in which the indexes are searched. No one configuration applies to every library research project with equal efficacy or likelihood of satisfying queries. However, the rationale proposed can compare and evaluate alternative library computer catalogs in terms of the library's understanding of the relationship between the library's collections and their use.
