The primary purpose of this study is to examine the present programs of physical education in Kentucky colleges; to determine the degree to which they meet the competitive sports needs of college women; and to explore the possibilities for enriching the program and to make recommendations for correcting inadequacies.

In considering the inclusion of a program of intercollegiate sports competition for college women, three questions are basic. First, what criteria should be used for evaluating present programs and determining the developing of an intercollegiate program for women? This thesis is a study of the attitudes of employed Latter-day Saint mothers and non-employed Latter-day Saint mothers toward the homemaking role and outside employment.

Two general hypotheses were tested. They were (1) employed Latter-day Saint mothers will have a more favorable attitude toward the homemaking role than non-employed mothers; and (2) employed Latter-day Saint mothers will have a more favorable attitude toward outside employment than non-employed mothers.

Purpose of the Study

The thesis of this study is that personality characteristics can be shown as factors in the variation of behavior which occurs during labor and childbirth. It is felt that if personality traits can be measured by a standard device they will correlate with various types of behavior expressed during labor. The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory is one instrument which tests all of the more important phases of personality. In the scrapbook, there are various newspaper clippings that address Portuguese Handicrafts and an appreciation of other cultures. This cultural appreciation would be shown at the Rhode Island School of Design to provide audiences would an understanding of Portuguese designs. Alongside these artworks, there is a strong emphasis on Italo-American handicrafts also being displayed in the museum.
