The issue of sexual assault has garnered widespread attention in recent years, as is evident by the growing number of high-profile cases and mainstream social movements. With this increasingly bright spotlight, it is no surprise that The University of Akron has interest in improving the sexual violence education programs offered to students. In 2015, the university conducted a survey to gather information on the campus climate surrounding sexual assault. The purpose of this Senior Honors Project is to research, study, and demonstrate newfound knowledge of various machine learning statistical techniques that are not covered in the University of Akron’s statistics major curriculum. This report will be an overview of three machine-learning methods that were used to predict NCAA Basketball results, specifically, the March Madness tournament. The Black Cloud Randomization Test looks at a nontraditional question and attempts to answer the question using unique statistics. The purpose of this paper is to apply what has been learned throughout the years and apply this knowledge to a final project. Data for this project follows an emergency room’s on call schedule, as well as the number of traumas that came in during each day shift.
