Study Of Electrical And Magnetic Properties Of Ni/Nio Nanocomposite Thin Film, Bishwajite Karmakar
Study Of Electrical And Magnetic Properties Of Ni/Nio Nanocomposite Thin Film, Bishwajite Karmakar
MSU Graduate Theses
In this thesis, detailed magnetic and electrical transport properties of composite thin films consisting of antiferromagnetic NiO, and ferromagnetic Ni have been studied. Highly oriented NiO thin films were grown on sapphire (0001) substrate using pulsed laser deposition with varying growth parameters such as oxygen pressure of the chamber and the substrate temperature. To obtain various percentage mixtures of Ni and NiO by means of introducing point defects (oxygen vacancies) into the NiO crystal structure, the as-grown films were annealed in forming gas (Ar:96% and H2:4%) at a fixed temperature of 600C and varying annealing time (0.5h to 6h). X-ray …
A Computational Study Of Properties Of Core-Shell Nanowire Heterostructures Using Density Functional Theory, Sandip Aryal
A Computational Study Of Properties Of Core-Shell Nanowire Heterostructures Using Density Functional Theory, Sandip Aryal
Dissertations, Master's Theses and Master's Reports
Nanoscale systems, especially the one-dimensional semiconducting nanowires, have been the subject of immense research interests due to their potential applications in nanoelectronics and optoelectronics that demand cheaper, smaller, faster, and energy-efficient components. In particular, the core/shell nanostructures, in which the core materials are shielded by materials with larger bandgap called shell, have been shown to enhance the performance of field effect transistors (FETs), solar cells, light emitting diodes (LEDs), and thermoelectric devices due to their outstanding features like valence band offset between the core and shell, higher stability against oxidation, reduction in the surface trap states, diminished nonradiative recombination processes, …
Defect-Related Magnetic Properties Of Nanostructured Nickel Oxide Thin Films For Solar Cell Applications, Angela E. Ezugwu
Defect-Related Magnetic Properties Of Nanostructured Nickel Oxide Thin Films For Solar Cell Applications, Angela E. Ezugwu
Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository
Transparent conducting oxides (TCOs) are extensively investigated because of their applications as transparent electrodes in solar cells and light-emitting devices. TCOs of interest include indium-tin oxide, aluminum-doped zinc oxide, nickel oxide (NiO), and their combinations. There is strong interest in NiO because no heteroatoms are required to “dope” it at high transparency levels. It has been speculated that paramagnetic defects due to Ni3+ centers and O interstitials are responsible for the electrical conductivity of otherwise insulating and antiferromagnetic NiO, but direct investigation of such defects has been limited. Here, the electrical conductivity in nanostructured NiO thin films is investigated …
Novel Physical Properties Of Non-Trivial Magnetic Materials: Cr1/3nbs2, Mnsi And Fe3gete2, Jieyu Yi
Novel Physical Properties Of Non-Trivial Magnetic Materials: Cr1/3nbs2, Mnsi And Fe3gete2, Jieyu Yi
Doctoral Dissertations
Helimagnets and quasi-two-dimensional layered materials have attracted much recent interest due to their rich physical properties and potential for spintronics applications. In this dissertation, the helimagnets Cr1/3NbS2 [chromium one-third niobium disulfide] and thin-film MnSi [manganese silicide] as well as the layered magnetic material Fe3GeTe2 [iron three germanium ditelluride] were extensively and carefully studied. Cr1/3NbS2 was previously reported to be helimagnet with a transition temperature of approximately 120 K. Cr1/3NbS2 has a layered structure with Cr3+ ions intercalating between NbS2 sheets, and is easily cleaved. Using in-situ …
Neutron Scattering Study Of The High Tc Superconductors, Jun Zhao
Neutron Scattering Study Of The High Tc Superconductors, Jun Zhao
Doctoral Dissertations
We carried out systematic neutron scattering experiments to investigate the magnetic properties and their relationship to the high-$T_c$ superconductivity, when the materials are tuned from their antiferromagnetic (AF) parent compounds to the superconducting regime.
We observed resonance mode in the electron doped cuprate Nd$_{1.85}$Ce$_{0.15}$CuO$_4$, demonstrating that the resonance is a general phenomenon in cuprate superconductors regardless of hole- or electron-doping. In Pr$_{0.88}$LaCe$_{0.12}$CuO$_4$, the local susceptibility displays two distinct energy scales that are broadly consistent with the bosonic modes revealed by scanning tunneling microscopy experiments. These results indicate the presence of very strong electron spin excitations couplings in electron doped cuprates. …
