New Mocd2 Phase In Film Coatings Of Molybdenum-Cadmium System, Yu. Zh. Tuleushev, V. N. Volodin, Y. A. Zhakanbaev

Eurasian Journal of Physics and Functional Materials

Ion-plasma sputtering and code position of Mo and Cd ultrafine particles have been used for the first time to prepare solid solutions that are alloys with a concentration up to 57.3 at. % Cd in the film; this confirms the thermal-fluctuation and coalescence of small particles. When coatings are formed by molyb-denum and cadmium nanolayers less than 2 nm in the concentrations range of 60-66 at. % Cd, a new phase was found that was prepared directly in the course of film coating formation; it was identified as the MoCd2 compound with a tetragonal face-centered lattice, with the parameters …

Dynamic Secondary Electron Emission In Dielectric/Conductor Mixed, Leandro Olano, Isabel Montero, María E. Dávila, A. Jacas, M. A. Rodriguez, Jr Dennison

Conference Proceedings

Secondary Emission Yield (SEY) of dielectric materials is of great importance for prediction and testing of the Multipaction discharge in RF components for space applications. An atypical behavior of the SEY of coatings composed by a mixture of conductor and dielectric microparticles was reported and modeled in [1]; in this original model, the interactions between dielectric and conductor particles were not taken into account, but an effective action of the surface voltage generated within the sample was included. The aim of the present contribution is to more accurately model the effect the electric fields between dielectric and conductor particles have …

Thermal Diffusion In Thin Plates And Coatings: Influence Of Thickness And Substrate Material, Harshan Soumya, Jacob Philip Jan 2016

Thermal Diffusion In Thin Plates And Coatings: Influence Of Thickness And Substrate Material, Harshan Soumya, Jacob Philip

Turkish Journal of Physics

The dependence of thermal diffusivity/conductivity on thickness for a variety of coatings and free-standing thin metallic plates was measured using a traveling photothermal technique. The selected materials have large differences in terms of their thermal conductivity. Measurements were carried out on coatings prepared on substrates with two widely different values for thermal conductivity to bring out the influence of substrate thermal conductivity on the thermal diffusivity/conductivity of the coating. Thermal diffusivity/conductivity increases exponentially with coating thickness with the value saturating at a definite thickness. The variation follows an empirical relation, which can predict thermal diffusivity of a coating at any …
