C-Metrics In Gauged Stu Supergravity And Beyond, H. Lu, Justin F. Vázquez-Poritz

We construct charged generalizations of the dilaton C-metric in various fourdimensional theories, including STU gauged supergravity as well as a one-parameter family of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theories whose scalar potential can be expressed in terms of a superpotential. In addition, we present time-dependent generalizations of the dilaton C-metric and dilaton Ernst solutions, for which the time evolution is driven by the dilaton. These C-metric solutions provide holographic descriptions of a strongly-coupled three-dimensional field theory on the background of a black hole, a gravitational soliton, and a black hole undergoing time evolution.

It is well known that black strings and branes may be constructed in pure Einstein gravity simply by adding flat directions to a vacuum black hole solution. A similar construction holds in the presence of a cosmological constant. While these constructions fail in general Lovelock theories, we show that they carry over straightforwardly within a class of Lovelock gravity theories that have (locally) unique constant curvature vacua.

We review the de Boer-Verlinde-Verlinde formalism for the renormalization group in the context of Dp-brane vacua for p < 5. We comment on various aspects of the dictionary between bulk and boundary and relate the discussion to the Randall-Sundrum scenario. We find that the gravitational coupling for the Randall-Sundrum gravity on the Dp-brane worldvolume is dressed by the c-function of the Yang-Mills theory. We compute the beta function and find the expected uneventful flow prescribed by the classical dimension of the Yang-Mills operator.
