Conference Papers
Photopolymer nanocomposite materials utilising nanoparticles of varied refractive index are one of the most attractive materials for holography due to their tuneable properties. The preparation of the photopolymer nanocomposites can involve mixing a stable colloidal suspension in the photopolymer solution or printing of the nanoparticle colloidal suspension on top of a dried photopolymer layer. By following the first approach in this study a novel photopolymer nanocomposite material is prepared for holographic recording. It consists of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPA)-based photopolymer as a host and iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles as nanodopant. The methodology of the photopolymer nanocomposite material preparation is explained in detail. …
Simulation Of T2 Mri Relaxation Enhancement By Magnetic Nanoparticles, Yahia Adeeb Tawfiq Hamdan
Simulation Of T2 Mri Relaxation Enhancement By Magnetic Nanoparticles, Yahia Adeeb Tawfiq Hamdan
Physics Theses
The effect of high concentration of magnetic nanoparticles (MNP) on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) transverse relaxation rates (R2=1/T2 and R2*=1/T2*) were studied using Monte Carlo (MC) simulations. Theoretical models assume that particle occupies a small volume fraction of the sample space. This work aims to test if available models based on Motional Averaged (MAR) and Static Dephasing Regimes (SDR) can still represent relaxation rates at large volume fractions. Furthermore, echo-time effects were tested on both gradient-echo and spin-echo sequences in order to examine if diffusion is involved. Findings will clarify if models need …

The structural and magnetic properties of Co2Ge nanoparticles (NPs) prepared by the cluster-beam deposition (CBD) technique have been investigated. As-made particles with an average size of 5.5 nm exhibit a mixture of hexagonal and orthorhombic crystal structures. Thermomagnetic measurements showed that the as-made particles are superparamagnetic at room temperature with a blocking temperature (TB) of 20 K. When the particles are annealed at 823 K for 12 h, their size is increased to 13 nm and they develop a new orthorhombic crystal structure, with a Curie temperature (TC) of 815 K. This …
