We apply the Distillation spatial smearing program to the extraction of the unpolarized isovector valence PDF of the nucleon. The improved volume sampling and control of excited-states afforded by distillation leads to a dramatically improved determination of the requisite Ioffe-time Pseudo-distribution (pITD). The impact of higher-twist effects is subsequently explored by extending the Wilson line length present in our non-local operators to one half the spatial extent of the lattice ensemble considered. The valence PDF is extracted by analyzing both the matched Ioffe-time Distribution (ITD), as well as a direct matching of the pITD to the PDF. Through development of …

Eic Crab Cavity Multipole Analysis, Q. Wu, Y. Luo, B. Xiao, Subashini De Silva, J. A. Mitchell

Crab cavities are specialized RF devices designed for colliders targeting high luminosities. It is a straightforward solution to retrieve head-on collision with crossing angle existing to fast separate both beams after collision. The Electron Ion Collider (EIC) has a crossing angle of 25 mrad, and will use local crabbing to minimize the dynamic aperture requirement throughout the rings. The current crab cavity design for the EIC lacks axial symmetry. Therefore, their higher order components of the fundamental deflecting mode have a potential of affecting the long-term beam stability. We present here the multipole analysis and preliminary particle tracking results from …
Gauge-Invariant Tmd Factorization For Drell-Yan Hadronic Tensor At Small X, Ian Balitsky
Gauge-Invariant Tmd Factorization For Drell-Yan Hadronic Tensor At Small X, Ian Balitsky
Physics Faculty Publications
The Drell-Yan hadronic tensor for electromagnetic (EM) current is calculated in the Sudakov region s ≫ Q2 ≫q⊥2 with 1Q² accuracy, first at the tree level and then with the double-log accuracy. It is demonstrated that in the leading order in Nc the higher-twist quark-quark-gluon TMDs reduce to leading-twist TMDs due to QCD equation of motion. The resulting tensor for unpolarized hadrons is EM gauge-invariant and depends on two leading-twist TMDs: f1 responsible for total DY cross section, and Boer-Mulders function h1⊥. The order-of-magnitude estimates of angular distributions for DY …

The E12-14-012 experiment, performed in Jefferson Lab Hall A, has collected exclusive electron-scattering data (e, e'p) in parallel kinematics using natural argon and natural titanium targets. Here we report the first results of the analysis of the data set corresponding to beam energy 2222 GeV, electron scattering angle 21.5 degrees, and proton emission angle -50°. The differential cross sections, measured with ≈ 4% uncertainty, have been studied as a function of missing energy and missing momentum, and compared to the results of Monte Carlo simulations, obtained from a model based on the distorted-wave impulse approximation.
Evidence Of Increased Radio-Frequency Losses In Cavities From The Fundamental Power Coupler Cold Window, Frank Marhauser, Gianluigi Ciovati
Evidence Of Increased Radio-Frequency Losses In Cavities From The Fundamental Power Coupler Cold Window, Frank Marhauser, Gianluigi Ciovati
Physics Faculty Publications
High radio-frequency (rf) losses measured for cavities in original Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF) cryomodules, compared to the losses measured in single-cavity tests, have been a long-standing issue related to their performance. We summarize experimental evidence of increased rf losses in CEBAF cavities arising from the fundamental power coupler cold window and waveguide, respectively. Cryogenic rf tests were done on cavities tested in vertical cryostats as well as inside cryomodules in the accelerator tunnel. The cold window metallization losses were assessed by combining numerical results with measured data obtained with an existing cryogenic waveguide resonator setup. The results showed …

The Concept And Applications Of A Dual Energy Storage Ring, Bhawin Dital, Andrew Hutton, Geoffrey Krafft, Fanglei Lin, Vasiliy Morozov, Yuhong Zhang

A dual energy electron storage ring configuration is initially proposed as an electron cooler to cool the ion beam in a collider. It consists of two energy loops, the electron beam in the high energy loop undergoes the synchrotron radiation damping to obtain the desired beam property and the beam in the low energy loop is for cooling of the ion beam. The two different energy loops are connected by an energy recovery linac. A lattice design of such a dual energy storage ring has been completed and beam stability conditions are established. We performed numerical simulations to demonstrate the …

The reaction 𝛾p → K+Λ (1520) using photoproduction data from the CLAS g12 experiment at Jefferson Lab is studied. The decay of Λ(1520) into two exclusive channels, Σπ+π- and Σ-π+, is studied from the detected K+, π+, and π- particles. A good agreement is established for the Λ(1520) differential cross sections with the previous CLAS measurements. The differential cross sections as a function of center-of-mass angle are extended to higher photon energies. Newly added are the differential cross sections as a function of invariant four-momentum transfer t, …

Effect Of Random Pinning On Nonlinear Dynamics And Dissipation Of A Vortex Driven By A Strong Microwave Current, W.P.M.R. Pathirana, Alex Gurevich

We report numerical simulations of a trapped elastic vortex driven by a strong ac magnetic field H(t)=Hsinωt parallel to the surface of a superconducting film. The surface resistance and the power dissipated by an oscillating vortex perpendicular to the film surface were calculated as functions of H and ω for different spatial distributions, densities, and strengths of pinning centers, including bulk pinning, surface pinning, and cluster pinning. Our simulations were performed for both the Bardeen-Stephen viscous vortex drag and the Larkin-Ovchinnikov (LO) drag coefficient η(v) decreasing with the vortex velocity v. The local residual surface resistance Ri(H) …

Quasimonochromatic x rays are difficult to produce above 100 keV, but have a number of uses in x-ray and nuclear science, particularly in the analysis of transuranic species. Inverse Compton scattering (ICS) is capable of fulfilling this need, producing photon beams with properties and energies well beyond the limits of typical synchrotron radiation facilities. We present the design and predicted output of such an ICS source at CBETA, a multiturn energy-recovery linac with a top energy of 150 MeV, which we anticipate producing x rays with energies above 400 keV and a collimated flux greater than 108 photons per second …

A dual energy storage ring designed for beam cooling consists of two closed rings with significantly different energies: the cooling and damping rings. These two rings are connected by an energy recovering superconducting RF structure that provides the necessary energy difference. In our design, the RF acceleration has a main linac and harmonic cavities both running at crest that at first accelerates the beam from low energy E_{L} to high energy E_{H} and then decelerates the beam from E_{H} to E_{L} in the next pass. The purpose of the harmonic cavities is to extend the bunch length in a dual …
