Changing Mutual Perception Of Television News Viewers And Program Makers In India- A Case Study Of Cnn-Ibn And Its Unique Initiative Of Citizen Journalism, Ratnesh Dwivedi Mr

Ratnesh Dwivedi

The Indian television system is one of the most extensive systems in the world. Terrestrial broadcasting, which has been the sole preserve of the government, provides television coverage to over 90% of India's 900 million people. By the end of 1996 nearly 50 million households had television sets. International satellite broadcasting, introduced in 1991, has swept across the country because of the rapid proliferation of small scale cable systems. By the end of 1996, Indians could view dozens of foreign and local channels and the competition for audiences and advertising revenues was one of the hottest in the world. In …

Community Radio:History,Growth,Challenges And Current Status Of It With Special Reference To India, Ratnesh Dwivedi Mr

Ratnesh Dwivedi

Community radio is a type of radio service that caters to the interests of a certain area, broadcasting content that is popular to a local audience but which may often be overlooked by commercial or mass-media broadcasters. Modern-day community radio stations often serve their listeners by offering a variety of content that is not necessarily provided by the larger commercial radio stations. Community radio outlets may carry news and information programming geared toward the local area, particularly immigrant or minority groups that are poorly served by other major media outlets. Philosophically two distinct approaches to community radio can be discerned, …

History Of Communication And Its Application In Multicultaral,Multilingual Social System In India Across Ages, Ratnesh Dwivedi Mr

Ratnesh Dwivedi

The history of communication dates back to the earliest signs of cavemen.Communication can range from very subtle processes of exchange, to full conversations and mass communication. Human communication was revolutionized with speech perhaps 200,000 years ago, Symbols were developed about 30,000 years ago and writing about 7,000. On a much shorter scale, there have been major developments in the field of telecommunication in the past few centuries.

Polarimetry Studies For The Npdgamma Experiment At The Sns, Jonny Dadras Nov 2009

Polarimetry Studies For The Npdgamma Experiment At The Sns, Jonny Dadras

Jonny Dadras

The NPDGamma collaboration aims to measure a parity-violating directional gamma-ray asymmetry from the capture of polarized cold neutrons on protons. The asymmetry, predicted to be on the order of 50 ppb, is a result of the weak interaction between mesons and nucleons during the neutron capture reaction. The experiment is designed to make a statistics limited measurement of the asymmetry at the level of about 20%. The experiment will be carried out at the Fundamental neutron Physics Beamline (FnPB) at the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS). The neutron beam is polarized by a super-mirror polarizer. A 9.5 G magnetic field guides …

International Terrorism:Role ,Responsibility And Operation Of Media Channles, Ratnesh Dwivedi Mr Nov 2008

International Terrorism:Role ,Responsibility And Operation Of Media Channles, Ratnesh Dwivedi Mr

Ratnesh Dwivedi

"Terrorism" is a term that cannot be given a stable defintion. Or rather, it can, but to do so forstalls any attempt to examine the major feature of its relation to television in the contemporary world. As the central public arena for organising ways of picturing and talking about social and political life, TV plays a pivotal role in the contest between competing defintions, accounts and explanations of terrorism. Which term is used in any particular context is inextricably tied to judgemements about the legitimacy of the action in question and of the political system against which it is directed. …

Decoherence As A Measure Of Entanglement, Padmanabhan Aravind, Denis Tolkunov, Vladimir Privman Jun 2005

Decoherence As A Measure Of Entanglement, Padmanabhan Aravind, Denis Tolkunov, Vladimir Privman

Padmanabhan K. Aravind

For a solvable pure-decoherence model, we confirm by an explicit model calculation that the decay of entanglement of two state systems (two quibits) is approximately governed by the product of the suppression factors describing decoherence of the subsystems, provided that they are subject to uncorrelated sources of quantum noise. This demonstrates an important physical property that separated open quantum systems can evolve quantum mechanically on time scales larger than the times for which they remain entangled.

Quantum Mysteries Revisited Again, Padmanabhan Aravind Dec 2003

Quantum Mysteries Revisited Again, Padmanabhan Aravind

Padmanabhan K. Aravind

This paper describes a device, consisting of a central source and two widely separated detectors with six switch settings each, that provides a simple gedanken demonstration of the non-classical correlations that are the subject of Bell’s theorem without relying on either statistical effects or the occurrence of rare events. The mechanism underlying the operation of the device is revealed for readers with a knowledge of quantum mechanics.

Mind-Matter Interaction In Quantum Physics, Milan Meszaros Physicist Feb 2000

Mind-Matter Interaction In Quantum Physics, Milan Meszaros Physicist

Milan Meszaros physicist

By the end of the 20th century, the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen, Schrödinger’s cat and Wigner’s friend paradoxes of quantum theory were already known. The Bell’s inequalities, the Aharonov-Bohm effect and the holographical principles etc. were also acquainted. There were positive experiments of Aspect, Daligbard and Roger just as Aspect, Grangier and Roger etc. In connection with these paradoxes and paradoxical experiments etc., the questions are raised: What is the ontological frame for description of these effects or notions: nonlocal, guiding wave (pilot wave), instantenous, delayed-choice experiments, superluminal, ghost wave, immaterial or mind, mind-matter interaction, holographical universe or entangled states just as quantum …

The Penrose Dodecahedron Revisited, Padmanabhan Aravind, Jordan Massad Oct 1998

The Penrose Dodecahedron Revisited, Padmanabhan Aravind, Jordan Massad

Padmanabhan K. Aravind

This paper gives an elementary account of the ‘‘Penrose dodecahedron,’’ a set of 40 states of a spin- 3 2 particle used by Zimba and Penrose @Stud. Hist. Phil. Sci. 24, 697–720 ~1993!# to give a proof of Bell’s nonlocality theorem. The Penrose rays are constructed here from the rotation operator of a spin- 3 2 particle and the geometry of a dodecahedron, and their orthogonality properties are derived and illustrated from a couple of different viewpoints. After recalling how the proof of Bell’s theorem can be reduced to a coloring problem on the Penrose rays, a ‘‘proof-tree’’ argument is …

Quantum-Statistical Properties Of Two Coupled Modes Of Electromagnetic Field, Serguei Y. Kalmykov, Mikhail E. Veisman Apr 1998

Quantum-Statistical Properties Of Two Coupled Modes Of Electromagnetic Field, Serguei Y. Kalmykov, Mikhail E. Veisman

Serge Youri Kalmykov

Squeezing the quantum fluctuations of the two-mode light due to the nonstationary coupling between the quadrature components q_1 and q_2 is examined. The delta-function and step-function mode couplings are considered. The conditions of weak and strong step-function coupling are distinguished, the latter being the condition of the instability for the classical counterpart of the quantum system under study. Under the conditions of weak coupling the quadrature squeezing is established in both a two-mode electromagnetic noise in thermal equilibrium (the thermal state) and a two- mode correlated coherent state (CCS). Squeezing in the thermal state is suppressed at a high temperature. …

Features Of The Photon Statistics Of Two Coupled Electromagnetic Field Modes Under The Conditions Of Strong Mode Coupling, Mikhail E. Veisman, Serguei Y. Kalmykov Jun 1997

Features Of The Photon Statistics Of Two Coupled Electromagnetic Field Modes Under The Conditions Of Strong Mode Coupling, Mikhail E. Veisman, Serguei Y. Kalmykov

Serge Youri Kalmykov

The probabilities of transitions between the Fock states of two electromagnetic field modes under the influence of coupling between modes of finite duration are investigated. It is shown that the transition probability is a strongly oscillating function of the mode numbers of the photons. Under conditions in which the coupling frequency exceeds the geometric mean of the mode frequencies (strong coupling), large numbers of photons are excited in the mode with the lower frequency. The excitation of a two-dimensional radiation field oscillator and the ‘‘red’’ symmetry of the transition probabilities can be attributed to instability of the classical two-dimensional oscillator …

Correlated And Coherent States Of The Two-Dimensional Quantum Oscillator With A Nonstationary Mode Coupling, Mikhail E. Veisman, Serguei Y. Kalmykov Apr 1997

Correlated And Coherent States Of The Two-Dimensional Quantum Oscillator With A Nonstationary Mode Coupling, Mikhail E. Veisman, Serguei Y. Kalmykov

Serge Youri Kalmykov

We investigate the squeezing and correlation phenomena of quantum fluctuations in correlated coherent states of a system of two oscillatory modes with a parametric coupling of the coordinates. In the regime of strong coupling between the modes, we discover an excitation and a strong correlation of the quantum fluctuations. The matrix of dispersions and covariances of the coordinates and momenta is found explicitly with the help of the method of the linear quantum integrals of motion.

Statistical Properties Of Schriidinger Real And Imaginary Cat States, Victor V. Dodonov, Serguei Y. Kalmykov, Vladimir I. Man'ko Mar 1995

Statistical Properties Of Schriidinger Real And Imaginary Cat States, Victor V. Dodonov, Serguei Y. Kalmykov, Vladimir I. Man'ko

Serge Youri Kalmykov

We study the photon statistics in the superpositions of coherent states |\alpha> and |\alpha*> named “Schroedinger real and imaginary cat states”. The oscillatory character of the photon distribution function (PDF) emerging due to the quantum interference between the two components is shown, and quadrature squeezing is observed for moderate values |\alpha| ~ 1. In spite of the quantity <\delta n^2> / tending to unity (like in the Poissonian PDF) at |\alpha| >> 1, the photon statistics is essentially non-Poissonian for all values of |\alpha|. The factorial moments and cumulants of the PDF are calculated, and oscillations of their ratio are demonstrated.

Higgs Boson Production In Peripheral Heavy-Ion Collisions: Coherent Double-Pomeron Exchange, Alec Schramm, Berndt Muller

Alec J Schramm

Higgs boson production by coherent double-pomeron exchange in peripheral nuclear collisions at energies of several TeV per nucleon is calculated. It is shown that a trigger on quasi-elastic nuclear collisions strongly suppresses the cross section. The analogous two-photon process is predicted to dominate for collisions of heavy nuclei.

Higgs-Boson Production In Peripheral Heavy-Ion Collisions: Electromagnetic Production, Alec Schramm, Burndt Muller Nov 1990

Higgs-Boson Production In Peripheral Heavy-Ion Collisions: Electromagnetic Production, Alec Schramm, Burndt Muller

Alec J Schramm

Higgs-boson production via fusion of two virtual photons in nuclear collisions at energies of several TeV per nucleon is calculated. It is shown that although a trigger on quasielastic nuclear collisions suppresses the Higgs-boson production cross section, this mechanism could still provide a method for producing and detecting intermediate-mass Higgs bosons (MZ≲MH≲2MW).

Conformal Transformations In Quantum Mechanics, Alec Schramm, Alfons Stahlhofen Jul 1989

Conformal Transformations In Quantum Mechanics, Alec Schramm, Alfons Stahlhofen

Alec J Schramm

We discuss the occurrence of orientation- or area-preserving diffeomorphism groups in quantum mechanics. We show that the generators of these groups are contained in the generators of the symmetry group of a central potential, as is demonstrated by the example of the Coulomb problem. Our approach is based on the recently introduced concept of a factor space of scattering states.
