Breast density is a known risk factor for breast cancer. However, there has been limited research on potential subtypes of mammographic dense breast tissue to identify areas of active dense tissue that is structurally reorganizing and links to cancer dynamics, versus areas of passive dense tissue which remains organized. We hypothesize that the amounts of subtypes of mammographic dense tissue and the associated rate of change through time could provide insights into breast cancer risk. Similarity or distance measures between data objects are applied frequently in many fields or domains such as geography, environmental science, biology, economics, computer science, linguistics, logic, business analytics, and statistics, among others. One area where similarity measures are particularly important is in the analysis of spatiotemporal event sequences and associated environs or settings. This dissertation focuses on developing a framework of modeling, representation, and new similarity measure construction for sequences of spatiotemporal events and corresponding settings, which can be applied to different event data types and used in different areas of data science. This document is a quick guide to establishing survey control points using a Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) receiver and processing collected point coordinate data.
The WPES Research Group uses a Trimble NetR9 GNSS reference receiver, which is reflected in the specific sequences of button presses outlined in the data profile setup, field operation, and data download sections. Readers using a different receiver may still find the general workflow overview useful and should be able to use the data post-processing section directly.

This study aims to characterize the circulation patterns in short and narrow estuarine systems on various temporal scales to identify the controls of material transport. In order to achieve this goal, a combination of in situ collected data and analytical modeling was used. The model is based on the horizontal Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations in the shallow water limit with scaling parameters defined from the characteristics of the estuary. Understanding the degree to which species distributions are controlled by climate is crucial for forecasting biodiversity responses to climate change. Climatic equilibrium, when species are found in all places which are climatically suitable, is a fundamental assumption of species distribution models, but there is evidence in support of climate disequilibria in species ranges. Long-lived, sessile organisms such as trees may be especially vulnerable to being outpaced by climate change, and thus prone to disequilibrium. Bedrock channels are responsible for balancing and communicating tectonic and climatic signals across landscapes, but it is difficult and dangerous to observe and measure the flows responsible for removing weakly-attached blocks of bedrock from the channel boundary. Consequently, quantitative descriptions of the dynamics of bedrock removal are scarce. Detailed numerical simulation of violent flows in three dimensions has been historically challenging due to technological limitations, but advances in computational fluid dynamics aided by high-performance computing have made it practical to generate approximate solutions to the governing equations of fluid dynamics. Lake Bonney is a permanently ice-covered lake in the Dry ValleyÆs region of Antarctica separated into two deep lobes by a shallow (12 m) sill. Denitrification occurs in the sub-oxic, saline waters of the west lobe but not in that of the east lobe for reasons unknown. Previous work has established this disparity cannot be attributed to temperature or salinity limitations, nor by the comparative availability of organic carbon substrates.
