Paleoenvironmental Features And Ostracod Investigation Of Paleogene-Neogene Sequences In Babaeski- Lüleburgaz- Muratlı-Çorlu Region (Southeastern Thrace, Turkey), Ümit Şafak

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

Aim of the study is to evaluate the Paleogene-Neogene sequences of Babaeski- Lüleburgaz- Muratlı-Çorlu (Southeastern Thrace, Turkey) region using the micropaleontological analysis on two borehole samples collected by Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA), measured sections and point samples taken from the neighborhood of Silivri, Türkmenli-Çorlu, Babaeski-Lüleburgaz, Edirne –Babaeski regions and Tekirdağ-Hayrabolu road. There the lignite sandstone, siltstone (Early Oligocene aged Danişmen Formation) and silts (Late Miocene-Pliocene aged Ergene Formation) with well-preserved ostracod fauna obtained from the the upper levels of the sequence along with some micro-Mollusca at some levels. The study results showed that lacustrine and lagoonal ostracods including marine …

Petrography And Provenance Of Floor Sediments From The Loutra Almopias Cave (Pella, Macedonia, Greece), Ioannis Georgiadis, Katerina Chatzopoulou, Nikolaos Kantiranis, Ioakeim Ioakeimidis, Ananias Tsirambides Sep 2019

Petrography And Provenance Of Floor Sediments From The Loutra Almopias Cave (Pella, Macedonia, Greece), Ioannis Georgiadis, Katerina Chatzopoulou, Nikolaos Kantiranis, Ioakeim Ioakeimidis, Ananias Tsirambides

International Journal of Speleology

Thirty seven floor sediment samples of Upper Pleistocene age from the Loutra Almopias Cave were collected from different beds and stratigraphic columns on the basis of their induration grade, grain distribution, and paleontological findings. Channel facies make up the bulk of the clastic sediments found in the cave passages. Slackwater facies compose the final layer of all the stratigraphic sections of the examined cave. The floor sediments are mineralogically immature, since they contain many ferromagnesian minerals, feldspars (especially plagioclase) and quartz. The extensive presence of silicate minerals means that the phyllites, gneisses, schists, ophiolitic rocks and the clastic Mariam Formation …

Descriptions, Systematics And Revisions Of The Subgenera Alveolina (Glomalveolina) Hottinger, 1960 And Alveolina (Alveolina) D’Orbigny, 1826 (Foraminiferida), Şükrü Acar Aug 2019

Descriptions, Systematics And Revisions Of The Subgenera Alveolina (Glomalveolina) Hottinger, 1960 And Alveolina (Alveolina) D’Orbigny, 1826 (Foraminiferida), Şükrü Acar

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

In this study, the genus Alveolina D’ Orbigny, 1826 and its Alveolina (Alveolina) D’ Orbigny, 1826 and Alveolina (Glomalveolina) Hottinger, 1960 subgenera were re-examined and identified. Systematics of the subgenera Alveolina (Alveolina)=Alv. (Alv.) and Alveolina (Glomalveolina)=Alv.(Glomalv.) have also been reviewed and revised. Alv. (Glomalv.) is considered as a subgenus, not a genus (?). Because, all the generic features of microspheric generations (fB) of these two subgenera are identical. Thus, Alveolina D’ Orbigny, 1826 and Glomalveolina Hottinger, 1960 cannot be used as if they were two different genera (?). Otherwise Glomalveolina would be the synonym of Alveolina in “Systematic Paleontology” chapter. …

Eocene Terrestrial Mammals From Central Georgia, Parker D. Rhinehart, Alfred J. Mead, Dennis Parmley

Georgia Journal of Science

Descriptions of fossils of Eocene terrestrial mammals from the southeastern United States are rare, and particularly so in the Eocene sediments of Georgia. Here we describe a small collection of fossilized teeth and tooth fragments representing four mammalian taxa. The fossils were recovered by surface collecting overburden sediments and screen washing in situ Clinchfield Formation sediments exposed in an inactive kaolin mine, Hardie Mine, in Wilkinson County, Georgia. The Clinchfield Formation has been described as a Late Eocene coastal unit with abundant gastropods, bivalves, sharks, and rays. This is the first detailed description of terrestrial mammals from this unit. Although …

Selandian Benthic Foraminiferal Assemblages Of The Southwestern Burdur (South Of Lake Yarışlı, Western Turkey) And Some Taxonomic Revisions, Şükrü Acar

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

In this study, new genera and species are described. These three new genera are Neosistanites (type species Sistanites iranica), Parahaymanella (type species Parahaymanella hakyemezae) and Pseudohottingerina (type species Pseudohottingerina burdurensis). Neosistanites new species and new genus (N. sozerii, N. okuyucui, N. guvenci, N. dageri, N. catali, N. armagani, N. inali) and Neosistanites iranicus are defined. Parahaymanella is the new genus and its new species (P. hakyemezae, P. bozkurti and P. alanae). New species of new genus Pseudohottingerina (Ps. burdurensis and Ps. yarisliensis). Laffitteina anatoliensis, Laffitteina thraciaensis, Sirtina paleocenica, Ankaraella minima new species and Laffitteina erki, Laffitteina mengaudi, Ankaraella trochoidea species …

A New Species Of Nummulites Lamarck (Nummulitidae, Foraminiferida) From Central Turkey, Ali Deveciler

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

A new nummulitid species Nummulites sireli n. sp. is described from the middle Lutetian of the Çayraz section, North of Haymana, South of Ankara, Turkey. The new species is referred in to the N. distans group, of which six other species from the Haymana and Çiçekdağ regions of Central Anatolia are identifi ed.
