Phenolate Derivatives Of Octanuclear Iron-Oxo-Pyrazolato Complexes; Enantiomeric Resolution Of T-Symmetry Species, Konstantinos Lazarou

FIU Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Octanuclear ferric complexes involving achiral phenolates of the general formula [Fe8(μ-O)4(μ-pz)12(R-C6H4O)4], (R = 4-NO2, 4-CN, 4-F, 4-Cl, 4-I, 4-CH3O, and 3-NO3), where synthesized and characterized by single crystal X-ray crystallography, elemental analysis, 1H-NMR, UV-Vis, IR, 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy and electrochemical methods (cyclic and differential pulse voltammetry). Results indicate that the nature of the phenolate substituents allows the fine tuning of the spectroscopic data of the compounds.

Subsequently, this project focused on the resolution of the racemic …

Photochemical Properties And Structure-Activity Relationships Of RuIi Complexes With Pyridylbenzazole Ligands As Promising Anticancer Agents, Dmytro Havrylyuk, David K. Heidary, Leona Nease, Sean Parkin, Edith C. Glazer Mar 2017

Ruthenium complexes capable of light‐triggered cytotoxicity are appealing potential prodrugs for photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photoactivated chemotherapy (PACT). Two groups of (polypyridyl)RuII complexes with 2‐(2‐pyridyl)benzazole ligands were synthesized and investigated for their photochemical properties and anticancer activity to compare strained and unstrained systems that are likely to have different biological mechanisms of action. The structure–activity relationship was focused on the benzazole‐core bioisosterism and replacement of coligands in RuII complexes. Strained compounds rapidly ejected the 2‐(2‐pyridyl)benzazole ligand after light irradiation, and possessed strong toxicity in the HL‐60 cell line both under dark and light conditions. In contrast, unstrained Ru …

Chalcopyrite CuInS2 (CIS) hierarchical structures composed of nanoflakes with a thickness of about 5 nm were synthesized by a facial solvothermal method. The thermodynamically metastable wurtzite phase CIS would be obtained by using InCl3 instead of In(NO3)3 as In precursor. The effects of the In precursor and the volume of concentrated HCl aqueous solution on the phases and morphologies of CIS nanocrystals have been systematically investigated. Experimental results indicated that the obtained phases of CIS nanocrystals were predominantly determined by precursor-induced intermediate products. The photocatalytic properties of chalcopyrite and wurtzite CIS in visible-light-driven degradation of …

The coordination of pyridyl-tetrazole derivatives containing ester substituents, at either the N-1 or N-2 position of the tetrazole ring, with copper(II) chloride results in the formation of either 1:1 or 1:2 copper to ligand complexes, depending on the ligand. However, when the ester functionality is changed to a carboxylate group, the resulting complexation reactions yield metal-organic frameworks. The resulting structures vary dramatically in pore size, depending on both reaction solvents and position of carboxylate group on the tetrazole ring. Despite the presence of sodium cations in the reaction mixtures, no sodium incorporation was ever observed in any of the complexes. …
