The cathode materials Li 1+x Mn 2O 4 were prepared with citric acid complexing and solution impregnating methods.Structure characterization and specific surface area test were performed by means of XRD,BET methods ,the influences of calcination temperature,Li/Mn molar ratio and raw materials on the structure and electrochemical capacity of samples have beem examined.The results showed that the Li/Mn molar ratio and calcimation temperature were the key factors affecting the electrochemical capacity of cathode materias.The optimum conditions for synthesis of Li 1+x Mn 2O 4 cathode material were 0≤x≤0.05 and calcined at 750°C.The initial capacity of the sample reached 120 mAh/g and …

Electrochemical etching of single crystal GaAs (111) was performed with a regular mold which resembles the micro_gear patterns. The etched patterns on GaAs was very consistent with the negative copies of the mold when the confined etchant layer technique (CELT) was used. However when the scavenger chemical of H 3AsO 3 was not added in the etching solution, the regular micro_gear patterns of the mold could not be obtained. In addition ,the procedure of fabricating a electrochemical mold is introduced and the characteristics of the mold are briefly discussed.

The cyclic voltammograms for Pb - 0.5 at% Ca - 1.5 at% Sn and Pb - 0.5 at% Ca - 1.5 at% Sn containing a certain amount of cerium in 4.5 mol·dm -3 H 2SO 4 at 20℃ were measured between 0.6 V and 1.4 V(vs. Hg/Hg 2SO 4). The growth rate of the anodic Pb(Ⅱ) films formed on the mentioned alloy electrodes at 0.9 V in the same sulfuric acid medium was investigated using the Linear Sweep Voltammetry. Lithiated titanium composite oxides Li 4Ti 5O 12 were prepared from Li 2CO 3 and TiO 2. The XRD results of this composite oxides indicated that the compound had a spinel structure. The electrochemical behavior of lithiated titanium composite oxides was examined. The results showed that this material had an excellent cyclic capability and reversibility for lithium insertion, and had high specific capacity: the initial discharge capacity was 300 mAh·g -1 , and the reversible capacity was 100 mAh·g -1 . The mechanism of FeS electrode process has been investigated by using linear cyclic voltammetry. The electrode porcess of FeS is accompanied with the formation and dissolution of insoluble FeS and controlled by ohmic resistance. The peak currents and potentials on the cyclic voltammograms are dependent lineally on the square root of the scan rates. According to this, an ohmic resistance controlling model of FeS electrode has been put forward, and the relative functions between peak currents or potentials and scan rates have been deduced. The theoretical deduction is corresponding to the results of the experiments.

A number of polymer materials as candidates of host matrix of plastic polymer electrolyte were examined and techniques for preparation of thin_film electrolyte were reported. The results showed that the polymer electrolyte prepared with P(VDF_HFP) copolymer as host matrix and DBP as plasticizer exhibit the satisfactory mechanical strength and ionic conductivity. In comprison with liquid electrolyte systems, thin_film lithium ion battery has almost similar charge_discharge capacity and cycleability. The manufacture methods and the technical factors in making plasticizing lithium ion battery were also described in details.

Effect Of N-Ion Implantation On The Anodic Polarization Behavior Of Surgery Medical Materials In Artificial Body Fluid, Liang Guo, Cheng-Hao Liang, Hong-Yan Sui

Journal of Electrochemistry

Effect of N_ion implantation on the anodic polarization behavior of surgery medical materials, such as SUS316L stainless steel,Co_Cr alloy and Ti_6Al_4V alloy, has been investigated with electrochemical technology in artificial body fluid Hank's solution. With the tests of corrosion potential and anodic polarization curves, it can be seen that the anti_corrosion behavior is developed after implantion. XRD and AES profiles have shown that the metal nitride coated on the matrix after N_ion implantation, which isolates the matrix from environmental solution. The metal nitride film with high electrochemical capability plays an important role in inhibiting corrosion of the specimens.

The requirements of impressed current anodes for the protection of underground structures were presented in this paper according to the analysis of working conditions. The characteristics and performance of various anodes such as scrap steel, graphite, high silicon cast iron, magnetite, platinized anode, conductive polymer cable anode and mixed metal oxide anode were reviewed. The development trend of impressed current anodes for underground applications was also discussed.

Powder Microelectrode Modified With Nafion-Os(Bpy)_3~( 2+) And Pvp Composite And Its Catalysis For No_2 - Reduction, Pei-Fang Liu, Jia-Wei Yan

The modified powder microelectrode was prepared by etching a Pt (0.1 mm diameter) disk microelectrode and filling in thus formed cavity with Nation_Os(bpy) 3 2+ /PVP composite modified carbon powder. The composite modified powder microelectrode showed cyclic voltammetric behaviors changing with the mole ratio (denoted X) of SO 3 - to Os(bpy) 3 2+ in Nafion. When X=3, a single pair of current peaks appeared near 0.6V (vs. SCE) due to Os(bpy) 3 2+/3+ redox couple. In contrast, for X=20, a pair of additional current peaks occurred near 0.4V. Li_ion secondary batteries negative electrodes were prepared by low temperature (<1 000 ℃) pyrolysis of commercial phenol_formaldhyde resin. A thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and an X_ray diffraction (XRD) studies were peoformed for the pyrolytic carbonaceous materials. The results indicated that these samples are amorphous polyacenic structure materials. With increasing pyrolytic temperature, these materials become structurally order, and the first charge_discharge special capacities reduce. The specific capacities base on pyrolytic temperature, involving lithium storage nanometer cavities.

A sensitive and stable amperometric enzyme electrode was constructed, based on the immobilization of tyrosinase in potentiostatically electropolymerized polypyrrole film at a platinum electrode. The influence of pH and potential on immbilization was discussed. SEM micrographs and CV curves of films obtained before and after incorparation of tyrosinase molecular were analyzed and compared each other. The enzyme electrode responds linearly to p-cresol over a concentration range of 5×10 -8 ~1×10 -6 mol/L with an optimum pH of 6.6, It exhibited kinetic characteristics of the typical enzyme-catalyzed reaction with an apparent Michaelis constant of 2.2 ×10 -5 mol/L.

The electrodeposition characteristics and grain sizes of Ni_W_B alloy have been studied by cyclic voltammetry, potentiostatic step and X_ray diffraction (XRD). The results showed that Ni_W_B alloy electrodeposit obtained from the solution containing ammonium citrate as a complexing agent was presented in the lower electrochemical activity compared with Ni_W alloy. Based upon the i~t curves of potentiostatic step, it was revealed that electrocrystallization of Ni_W_B alloy on glassy carbon followed the mechanism of instantaneous nucleation and three dimensional growth with diffusion controlled. Reaction mechanism of enzyme immunoelectrode is studied by potentiostatic. Rotating disk electrode is used to determine the controlling step of bioelectrode. Under different potentials and different modifying conditions, kinetic parameters of bioelectrodes were measured on the base of electrochemical impendance spectra. The decrease of over_potential of hydrogen evolution reaction at Pt black powder/Nafion microelectrode, comparing that of the Pt microdisk/Nafion electrode, was evident from the polarization curves of the Pt microdisk/Nafion electrode, platinized Pt micrdisk/Nafion electrode and Pt black powder/Nafion microelectrode. It is also evidenced by a plane Pt electrode with an additional free Pt surface. The surface diffusion and the surface recombination reaction of the adsorbed intermediate at the free surface of the Pt particles were supposed. It is an additional reaction path that induced the decrease of the concentration of the adsorbed intermediate. Thereby, the over_potential decreased.

The adsorption behavior of amino acids, such as L_cysteine, histidine and arginine at gold_quartz crystal microbalance (Au_QCM) was investigated. The adsorption quantity of cysteine is more appreciable than others because of the stronger interaction between its thiol group and the gold electrode surface. The electron_transfer process of superoxide dismutase(SOD) in presence of cysteine at Au_QCM has also been studied using the electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM) technique which reveals clearly the quasi_reversible electron_transfer process accompanied by the frequency shift cycle. The Chronoamperometry of powder spherical Ni(OH) 2 microelectrode was used to study the proton diffusion coefficients of Ni(OH) 2. The proton diffusion coeefficients and the apparent diffusion active energy in anode and cathode processes at different temperature were obtained. Compared with pure Ni(OH) 2, the apparent diffusion active energy( E a) of Ni(OH) 2 doped with Co and Co+Zn was decreased and the diffusion constant( D o) was increased in the anode and the cathode processes, respectively, the effect of Co was greater. The different concentration of Na + was introduced into the non_aqueous eletrolyte system EC/DEC/LiClO 4 with 4A molecular sieve and lithiated 4A molecular sieve,by which the trace amount of water was removed.The concentrations of Na + and Li + were determined by atomic adsorption spectrometry. Our recent works about nanosized materials for lithium ion batteries are reported, including the synthesis of nanosized Sb, SnSb, CuSn x, Si and CuS, their electrochemical performance as anode or cathode active materials,the variation of crystal structure and morphology during discharge and charge cycling. In addition,the self_plasticization of lithium salt with nanosized anion ion in polymer electrolyte,the influence of the electrochemical Li_doping on the Raman spectra and photoluminescence of nano_Si are also introduced. Furthermore,the relationship between intrinsic properties of nanosized materials and their electrochemical behaviors are discussed. The prospect of nanosized materials for lithium ion batteries is drawn.

Electrochemical Codeposition Of Palladium And Glucose Oixdase In The Presence Of Glycine As Complexing Agent, Kan Zhu, Hui-Huang Wu

Glycine and Pd(NH 3) 2Cl 2 consist of a solution for the electrochemical codeposition of Pd and glucose oxidase (GOD) to prepare a metallized enzyme electrode. The experiments by UV/V spectroscopy show that the complexing of Pd ion with glycine can occur, which makes the plating bath has relatively stable chemical composition in a certain pH range. The voltammetric experiments indicate that the presense of glycine decreases the potential of Pd deposition ,facilitating to prevent the formation of palladium hydride. The appropriate conditions for the electrochemical codeposition of Pd and GOD are discussed.

The possibility for several kinds of conducting materials used as the cathode of glucose sensor was studied by the cathode polarization curves. It was shown that the titanium coated by RuO 2/TiO 2 is stable to the electrochemical corrosion and it could promote the generation of hydrogen. H 2O 2 could be detected in the electrochemical system constructed by the anode of graphite powder and epoxy resin composite and the cathode of titanium coated by RuO 2/TiO 2 in the potential range of 0.6V~0.8 V. Performances of nickel electrodes when adding or without adding Cobalt in different forms were studied, the results were interpreted by cyclic voltammetry(CV)and electrochemical impedance spectroscope(EIS). It was demonstrated that the additions of Co,CoO,CoO+Co by mechanically mixing with Ni(OH) 2 all can improve the performance of nickel electrode to some extent,and when Co is added in the form of CoO the best performance can be obtained. Determination Of Diclofenac In Voltalin Tablets By Differential Pulse Voltammetry, Gui-Fen Wang, Yuan-Zhe Piao

Diclofenac,dissolved in a base solution of chlorhydric acid,showed a sensitive oxidation peak at 0.91 V(vs.SCE) when the solution was cyclically swept from +0.6 to +1 2 V(vs.SCE) by differential pulse voltammetry at GCE.There was a good linear relationship between the differential pulse peak current and the concentraion of diclofenac in the range from 5.0×10 -7 to 6.0×10 -6 mol/L,and the relative standard deviation is 3.5%(n=10).When determining the content of diclofenac in voltalin tablets, we have got the same results by this method as ultraviolet spectrophotometry.

The positive and negative pastes were prepared by mixing PbCO 3 and H 2SO 4 solution as well as relative additives, respectively. The effects of the various formation methods and the charge/discharge conditions on discharge capacity and active material utilization of both electrodes were examined. The results indicate that the performance of the positive electrode formed at 2.0 mA/cm 2 is better than that formed at higher current density under the same charge/discharge condition, the PAM utilization reaches 74.4 % under discharging at 2.0 mA/cm 2; and the property of the negative electrode formed by unsymmetrical square wave is superior …

To lower platinum loading in electrodes for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell,a new thin electrode fabrication technique(TEFT) was developed in this work.A series of low Pt loading electrodes with smooth and uniformed surface were fabricated by the TEFT.As a result,the maximum power density of the cell with platinum loading of 1 mg/cm 2 and Nafion 117 membrane as electrolyte was up to 0.3 W.cm -2 .Moreover,the effects of PTFE and Nafion content in cathodes on the performance of PEMFC with low Pt loading electrodes(1 mg Pt/cm 2)were examined systematically.

By using a cost_effective wet process,dense yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) films on Ni_YSZ anode substrates have been prepared successfully.The YSZ film was characterized to be around 10 μm in thickness,sufficiently dense,uniform and crack free.A single solid oxide fuel cell fabricated from the supported YSZ film electrolyte on the anode substrate and a LSM cathode prepared on the YSZ film was tested.The power density reached to 0.1 W/cm 2 at 800 ℃,showing a reasonable performance.Further analysis on both electrodes shows that the anodic overpotential was much larger than IR drop (including YSZ resistance and contact resistance) and than the cathodic overpotential.The …

A cathodic indirect electro_oxidation system was established for indirect electro_oxidize dimethyl sulfoxide to dimethyl sulfone with electro_reduction generated H 2O 2 catalyzed by the pertungstate/tungstate(WO 5 2- /WO 4 2- )redox mediator. Influences of current density,pH,temperature,and the current efficiencies etc. on the cathodic indirect electro_oxidation of dimethyl sulfone were investigated for determining optimum reaction conditions.The current efficiency reached more than 70%.Mother_liquid could be recycled to use without pollution.
