Oyster Spatfall On Shellstrings In Virginia Rivers: 1972 Annual Summary, Virginia Institute Of Marine Science
Oyster Spatfall On Shellstrings In Virginia Rivers: 1972 Annual Summary, Virginia Institute Of Marine Science
Reports
Oyster setting in Virginia river systems dipped to the lowest levels on record during 1972, according to scientists at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science who regularly monitor oyster grounds for set. A heavy set occurred on the seaside of Virginia's Eastern Shore and limited setting was observed in tributary rivers of the Mobjack Bay, but elsewhere the number of oysters setting on shellstrings and on the bottom in lower Chesapeake Bay in 1972 was far lower than for the previous year, and the lowest overall set ever recorded.

Oil Pollution And The Coastal State, J. T. O'Brien
Oil Pollution And The Coastal State, J. T. O'Brien
Theses and Major Papers
It will be the purpose of this paper to pose and answer this question...How has the legal competence of a coastal state been strengthened with respect to that state's ability to prevent marine oil pollution? The question by implication presupposes that a certain change in legal competence is in fact occurring. The legal and historical baseline from which to gauge this gradual change will be established by reviewing past milestones in oil pollution law. A closer examination will then be made of recent evolutionary changes in both international and national oil pollution law subsequent to the Torrey Canyon Disaster of …

A Report On The Condition Of The Gascoyne Catchment, D G. Wilcox, E A. Mckinnon
A Report On The Condition Of The Gascoyne Catchment, D G. Wilcox, E A. Mckinnon
Resource management technical reports
Severe flooding in Carnarvon followed heavy rains on the Gascoyne Catchment in February 1961. The flooding and erosion were extensive enough to suggest that run-off from the catchment was excessive. Lightfoot (1961)* reported that excess run-off was due to degradation of the catchment area. This report will describe the catchment area in terms of the degradation of its rangeland and its susceptibility to erosion.

Publications (WR)
In Nov 1967, a Deep Water Isotopic Current Analyzer (DWICA) was used to study current patterns in the Boulder Basin of Lake Mead to determine if low-quality water from Las Vegas Bay might enter the Southern Nevada Water Project intake on Saddle Island. Secondary objectives were to study the general current patterns in Boulder Basin and the effect of power discharges at Hoover Dam on these currents. Results of current measurements at 3 stations in Boulder Basin are given. Observations indicate a definite possibility that low-quality water from Las Vegas Bay might enter the water intake on Saddle Island. Current …

Micronutrients And Biological Patterns In Lake Mead, Hasan K. Qashu, Lorne G. Everett, J. S. Carlson, Bureau Of Reclamation
Publications (WR)
Progressive increases in concentration of dissolved solids in the Colorado River water from Lake Powell to Imperial Dam seem to alter plankton dynamics and biological productivity of the river. Also, changes in biological productivity and micronutrients concentrations occur within the same reservoir. Development of a digital simulation model to predict micronutrients concentrations and biological productivity is necessary for diagnosing changes in plankton population and effluent-carrying capacity of the system.
The objectives of the study are: (1) to determine trace metal balance at different locations in Lake Mead, (2) to measure biological productivity and conduct plankton population counts at each sampling …
