Background: Despite the availability of high-quality evidence describing injury patterns in European professional soccer players, there is a paucity of data regarding American athletes. This disparity is accentuated for elite youth athletes. Our study identifies position-specific injury patterns occurring in elite youth male soccer players. Hypothesis: We hypothesize that there are injury types, locations, and specific injuries that occur most frequently in elite youth soccer players and that certain positions have a higher frequency of these injuries than others. Methods: Data from a retrospective review of the IRB-approved Male Academy Soccer Registry from August 1, 2019 through June 30, 2022 …

ABSTRACT: Adhesive Capsulitis is a disorder that occurs in the shoulder area in the form of inflammation of the joint capsule which causes a feeling of stiffness and pain. Glenohumeral joint mobilization with the Maitland mobilization technique is using passive mobilization with physiological oscillatory movements which can produce a stretching effect and release of adhesive on the ligament capsule in the shoulder so that the range of motion of the shoulder joint can be increased. Hold relax is an exercise therapy with the principle of reciprocal inhibition which aims to improve antagonistic pattern relaxation, and mobilization, and to reduce pain. …

Background: Adaptive downhill skiing has been described as a fun, safe, engaging recreational activity for those with disabilities (Sterba, 2006). There are numerous ways the alpine skiing can be modified to meet these athletes’ needs. For instance, athletes can use tethered skis, horizontal poles held by their instructors, or modified walkers. For those that have poor standing balance, or are non-ambulatory, sit-skis are an option, with or without outriggers to add additional support and balance for athletes with poor trunk stability or core strength. These options provide equal and accessible alternatives for those with disabilities to get out and enjoy …

A pediatrician is asked by her local school board to help them decide whether to discontinue their high school football program. She reviews the available evidence on the risks of football and finds it hopelessly contradictory. Some scholars claim that football is clearly more dangerous than other sports. Others suggest that the risks of football are comparable to other sports, such as lacrosse, ice hockey, or soccer. She finds very little data on the long-term sequelae of concussions. She sees claims that good coaching and a school culture that prioritizes the health of athletes over winning can reduce morbidity from …
