Background:

Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a rare inflammatory cutaneous disorder that is thought to be due to innate immune system dysfunction, specifically of neutrophils. PG has been well documented in patients with autoimmune disorders like Ulcerative Colitis and Rheumatoid Arthritis. PG can also present in surgical patients, imitating a potential wound infection and necrotizing fasciitis. Although PG is a diagnosis of exclusion, prompt recognition is essential to attaining desired aesthetic outcomes, especially with breast involvement. Introduction:

Significant disparities in immediate breast reconstruction after mastectomy have persisted, and may even be increasing, despite large-scale efforts to minimize them, such as the Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act of 1998. Immediate breast reconstruction has been shown to lead to higher rates of surgical satisfaction, minimize delay in post-operative cancer treatment, and improve the quality of life and overall well-being of mastectomy patients. Symptoms associated with heavy breasts are pain in the upper part of the body; back pains, poor body posture and headache. These patients also have difficulties in finding suitable clothes and experience poor self-image and problems such as establishing sexual relationships. Reduction mammoplasty procedure provides weight and volume reduction of the breast as well as enhancement of the aesthetic appearance of the breasts. In this study, the inferior pedicle technique was used in reduction of thirty five patients over the last four years with macromastia. In all the patients except three, good results were achieved.
