Breast reconstruction following mastectomy is increasing and implant-based breast reconstruction is the most common surgical approach. Saline and silicone implants have different cost and complication profiles and it is unclear which is the more cost-effective option. A systematic review of the literature was undertaken to summarize the quality of life data in breast reconstruction, specifically, previously published health state utility values relevant to breast reconstruction. In addition, a cost-utility analysis was undertaken from the perspective of the third-party payer, accounting for the most common complications associated with saline and silicone implants. Objectives: We aimed to analyze the outcomes of patients who underwent vulvectomy with subsequent V-Y fasciocutaneous flap reconstruction.

Methods: All medical records of all patients who underwent vulvectomies with V-Y fasciocutaneous flap reconstruction from January 2007 to June 2016 were retrospectively reviewed. Patient clinical and surgical data, demographics, and outcomes were abstracted.

Results: Of the 27 patients, 42 flaps were transferred. A simple vulvectomy was performed in 8 (30%) patients, partial radical vulvectomy in 15 (56%), and radical vulvectomy in 4 (15%). The median area of defect was 30 cm

Significant disparities in immediate breast reconstruction after mastectomy have persisted, and may even be increasing, despite large-scale efforts to minimize them, such as the Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act of 1998. Immediate breast reconstruction has been shown to lead to higher rates of surgical satisfaction, minimize delay in post-operative cancer treatment, and improve the quality of life and overall well-being of mastectomy patients. Background: The radial forearm free flap (RFFF) has remained a leading choice of many plastic surgeons as a fasciocutaneous flap due to its versatility, pedicle length, and simple elevation technique. However, donor site morbidity has led many reconstructive surgeons to limit their use of the RFFF and to use other flaps instead. Background: Infection following augmentation and prosthetic-based breast reconstruction can cause significant physical and psychological distress for patients. It may delay adjuvant therapies and compromise aesthetic outcomes. The aim of this study is to identify modifiable risk factors for infection and identify common bacterial isolates to achieve optimal outcomes for patients.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was performed for patients undergoing implant-based breast reconstruction over a 2-year period. In each case, we documented demographics, co-morbidities, complications and antibiotic use. We reviewed treatments, infectious species cultured where applicable and all outcomes.

Aging pediatric cranioplasty patients with titanium implants are a population at risk for scalp breakdown and implant extrusion. Complications from titanium use in adult cranioplasty patients are well documented in the medical literature. Reports of complications focused on pediatric populations are sparse. In this case series, we report two examples of negative sequelae associated with titanium utilization in infant cranioplasty and discuss our treatment strategy for each case.

Primary cutaneous mucinous carcinoma (PCMC) is a rare mucin-pro- ducing malignancy derived from epithelial glandular structures. The literature re- garding this topic is mostly in the form of case reports and case series. PCMC tends to present in the elderly with predilection for the head and neck and on initial assessment it can be easily mistaken for a simple inclusion cyst. Although PCMC is often indolent in nature, in rare instances it can metastasize and should remain a differential diagnosis in a selected population.
