Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide. Among all glaucoma types, primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG) affects approximately 23 million people worldwide, and is responsible for 50% of glaucoma-related blindness, highlighting the devastating consequences of this disease. The main mechanism of PACG is relative pupillary block. High-risk populations are female gender, Asian ethnicity, high hyperopia, short axial length, and a thick/anteriorly positioned lens. Background and Objectives: Dry eye disease (DED) affects 5–50% of the global population and deeply influences everyday life activities. This study compared the efficacy, tolerability, and safety of novel Respilac artificial tears containing lipidure and hypromellose (HPMC) with the widely used Nextal artificial tears, which are also HPMC-based, for the treatment of moderate DED in contact lenses (CL) wearers.

BACKGROUND: This retrospective review reports on patients who underwent glaucoma drainage implant (GDI) surgery and had baseline intraocular pressure (IOP) of ≤18 mmHg with at least one year of follow-up.

METHODS: Clinical data of 67 eyes of 67 patients were collected from patients' charts, and the outcomes of GDI were evaluated until 7 years. GDI failure was defined as IOP reduction of less than 20% from the baseline at two consecutive visits three months after surgery, decline to no light perception, or if additional glaucoma surgery was performed.

PURPOSE: We report a case of bilateral severe pigmentary glaucoma and paracentral acute middle maculopathy (PAMM) following laser treatment for iris color change.

OBSERVATIONS: A 32-year-old female presented to our emergency clinic after having undergone 4 sessions of bilateral cosmetic iris laser treatment in Turkey to lighten the color of her dark brown irides. Visual acuity was 20/150 in the right eye (OD) and counting fingers in the left eye (OS) at presentation. Purpose: To evaluate the effect of phacoemulsification on intraocular pressure (IOP) in eyes with functioning tube shunts.

Methods: This was a retrospective chart review of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) patients with a functioning tube who underwent phacoemulsification and had ≥24 months of follow-up. The primary end point was defined as surgical failure (IOP > 21 mmHg) at month 24, progression to no light perception (NLP) vision, glaucoma reoperation, or implant removal. Surgical failure defined as IOP >18 and >15 mmHg, changes in visual acuity (VA), IOP, and number of medications were assessed.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the utility of a rationally engineered antibody that directly blocks collagen fibrillogenesis to reduce scar tissue formation associated with subconjunctival glaucoma surgery.

Material and methods: Fourteen eyes of 7 adult rabbits underwent glaucoma filtering surgery using XEN 45 Gel Stent. The rabbits’ eyes were divided randomly into three treatment groups: (i) treated with the antibody, (ii) treated with mitomycin C, and (iii) treated with the antibody and mitomycin C. Purpose: To report a patient with conjunctival and buccal neuromas and enlarged corneal nerves without Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia 2B (MEN2B).

Observations: A 28-year-old female presented with progressively enlarging bilateral limbal conjunctival growths. Slit lamp examination was notable for enlarged corneal nerves and well-circumscribed gelatinous subepithelial limbal nodules. Systemic examination revealed similar lesions on the tongue. Conjunctival biopsy demonstrated a mucosal neuroma. The patient underwent endocrine workup for MEN2B and genetic testing for the RET-proto oncogene mutations, all of which were negative.

PURPOSE: Retinoblastoma (RB) is most often diagnosed with clinical features and not diagnosed with tumor biopsy. This study describes tumor-derived analyte concentrations from aqueous humor (AH) liquid biopsy and its use in clinical assays.

INTRODUCTION: Appointment nonadherence is common among people with glaucoma, making it difficult for eye care providers to monitor glaucoma progression. Our objective was to determine whether the use of patient navigators, in conjunction with social worker support, could increase adherence to recommended follow-up eye appointments.

METHODS: A randomized, controlled trial evaluated the effectiveness of an intervention that used patient navigators and social workers to improve patient adherence to follow-up eye care compared with usual care.
