An Obstetrics And Gynecology Residency Program’S Approach To The Covid-19 Pandemic, Tiffany C. Chang, Brenda Nguyen, Chi Dola

Background: The impact of COVID-19 on residency training nationwide has been substantial, and adapting to this unprecedented event has proven challenging for program directors throughout the United States. Here, the authors presented their initial experiences with restructuring an obstetrics and gynecology residency program during the pandemic. The authors outlined their strategies to maximize resident safety and address clinical care in outpatient and inpatient settings, resident education curriculum, resident wellness and consider the ethical dilemmas of health care providers during a pandemic.
Conclusion: With perspectives from other residency programs, the authors hope this review will serve as an initial building block …

Strengthening The Evidence Base For Telehealth For Abortion Service Delivery, Nadi Kaonga

Telehealth – which is the use of information and communication technology to provide clinical services to patients remotely – provides an opportunity to extend safe abortion services to women. A recent review article on telehealth for abortion service delivery found it to be acceptable, feasible and safe when compared to in-person service delivery. Despite the promising findings, the evidence base can and should be strengthened to optimize the impact of such services for women. “Disbelieving Black Women To Death”; The “Double Jeopardy”: Racism And Sexism Affects Black Women’S Access To And Quality Of Care During Pregnancy, Birth, And Postpartum, Madeline St. Clair

This paper explores possible reasons why Black women in the United States experience a higher maternal mortality rate than their white counterparts. Using books, articles, journals, documentaries, personal experiences and stories of Black women and mothers, I argue that barriers from the societal to the individual level create health and medical disparities for Black mothers in pregnancy, during delivery, and the postpartum period. The paper concludes with a multifaceted solution and call to action.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is growing exponentially in various fields, including medicine. This paper reviews the pertinent aspects of AI in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) and how these can be applied to improve patient outcomes and reduce the healthcare costs and workload for clinicians.
Herein, we will address current AI uses in OB/GYN, and the use of AI as a tool to interpret fetal heart rate (FHR) and cardiotocography (CTG) to aid in the detection of preterm labor, pregnancy complications, and review discrepancies in its interpretation between clinicians to reduce maternal and infant morbidity and mortality.
