Introduction. Hypertension is a chronic disease that causes 1 in every 7 deaths. Controlled blood pressure will reduce the complication of hypertension. The aim of this study was to determine the factors that influence controlled blood pressure. Conn’s syndrome is characterized by an increase in aldosterone level causes sodium retention and an increase in urine excretion of potassium. This syndrome is characterized by trias hypokalemia, hypertension, and metabolic alkalosis. This article discussed a case report of a patient with uncontrolled hypertension with neuromuscular symptoms caused by recurrent hypokalemia. After an evaluation of the imaging test, we found a left adrenal tumor then we performed unilateral adrenalectomy surgery. Histopathology examination from the excised tumor revealed the adrenal adenoma. After unilateral adrenalectomy, the patient showed clinical and laboratory improvement.

Introduction. According to WHO, hypertension is associated with 7.5 million deaths worldwide or 12.8% of all deaths. Meanwhile, based on Riskesdas 2013 in Indonesia, hypertension is still a major health problem with a prevalence of 26.5%. Acute neuromuscular disorder is a commonly found medical condition, which may prove to be fatal in certain conditions. Hypokalemia is one possible cause of neuromuscular disorder. In patient with hypokalemia accompanied with hypertension, primary hyperaldosteronism might be the primary cause. Primary hyperaldosteronism (Conn syndrome) is clinically known as a triad, which is consists of hypertension, hypokalemia, and metabolic alkalosis. Introduction. Hypertension is one of the important problems in elderly due to high impact of cardiovascular complications. Education and antihypertensive medication adherence are considered as influence factors in a holistic and comprehensive hypertension treatment.
