Two centuries ago, immunization practices have become the greatest land mark in medical history as they significantly contributed to a decline in several major infectious diseases worldwide thus decreasing both the mortality and morbidity. We report the case of a 38-year-old male physician who was vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine. He experienced arm pain and swelling on the vaccinated arm as well as systemic symptoms, including fever, chills, headache and weakness. The systemic symptoms improved after the use of oral prednisone. A review of the literature on the COVID vaccine is presented.

Background. Individuals who are immunocompromised (IC) due to disease or therapy are at increased risk of herpes zoster (HZ), with HZ cases in IC populations also resulting in increased health care resource use and costs as compared with the immunocompetent population. This study assesses the cost-effectiveness of recombinant zoster vaccine (RZV) versus no vaccine for the prevention of HZ in IC adults aged ≥ 18 years in the United States (US). Methods. Shingles, the disease caused by the herpes zoster virus, is a widespread and widely misunderstood illness in the United States. It is preventable, but many at-risk patients do not know what measures they may take to prevent it. Clear communication from physician to patient is crucial for patient understanding of diseases. Many patient education materials on herpes zoster currently available are often unused.
