Each year, one out of three adults (> 65 years old) experiences a fall, resulting in fractures, head injuries, and even death. Falling is the leading cause of death from an injury and causes the greatest number of nonfatal injuries and hospital admissions for trauma. Since balance and muscle performance decrease as one ages, it is vitally important to assess these factors as part of a comprehensive strategy to monitor and predict fall risk.
