Introduction:

Acute esophageal necrosis (AEN), is a rare disorder with an estimated incidence of 0.01-0.28%. It typically affects the distal third of the esophagus. Approximately 90% of patients with acute esophageal necrosis present with upper gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding, primarily due to ischemic insult or severe hemodynamic compromise. In this report, we describe a case in which the patient presented with odynophagia and dysphagia, but without upper GI bleeding. The patient exhibited pan mucosal involvement of the esophagus, which extended to the gastric antrum.

Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are a rare subset of cancers that most commonly arise in the gastrointestinal tract, but can also arise in the pancreas, lungs, ovaries, thyroid, pituitary gland, and adrenal gland. When patients present with metastatic NETs, physicians have a variety of therapeutic options. Considering these options, transplant specialists are often involved due to the profound therapeutic effects of multi-organ transplantation. However, little information is available on prognosis/complications for patients that receive multi-organ transplants due to severe metastatic NETs.

This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to assess the diagnostic accuracy of AI models compared with the gold standard of experts and histopathology for the diagnosis of various gastrointestinal (GI) luminal pathologies including polyps, neoplasms, and inflammatory bowel disease.
Methods: We searched PubMed, CINAHL, Wiley Cochrane Library, and Web of Science electronic databases to identify studies assessing the diagnostic performance of AI models for GI luminal pathologies. Background: Modelling suggests that achieving the WHO incidence target for hepatitis C virus (HCV) elimination in Pakistan could cost US$3.87 billion over 2018 to 2030. However, the economic benefits from integrating services or improving productivity were not included.
Methods and findings: We adapt a HCV transmission model for Pakistan to estimate the impact, costs, and cost-effectiveness of achieving HCV elimination (reducing annual HCV incidence by 80% by 2030) with stand-alone service delivery, or partially integrating one-third of initial HCV testing into existing healthcare services. •Spontaneous fungal peritonitis (SFP) is an infection defined as a neutrophil count (> 250 cells/mL) in the ascitic fluid with the evidence of positive fungal culture (1) while excluding other intra-abdominal infections. SFP is not as common as spontaneous bacterial peritonitis and has higher mortality rates due to late recognition and difficulty in differentiation between SFP and SBP. (1,2).
