This article will summarize methods for providers to effectively combat vaccine hesitancy in their patient populations. Vaccine hesitancy is a growing concern in the medical field, as new cases of vaccine preventable diseases arise. However, vaccine hesitancy is more common than vaccine resistance and can be converted into vaccine acceptance with effective communication strategies.

There is no easy solution to the complex problem of vaccine hesitancy. Most studies demonstrate that effective conversion to vaccine acceptance requires tailoring vaccine information to the patient and listening to their concerns. Antibiotics have revolutionized modern medicine; however, the overuse in urgent care and primary care significantly contributes to the global burden of infections resistant to available antimicrobial medicines. Approximately 30% of the antimicrobials prescribed in acute care settings are unnecessary. Patient demand for antibiotics has seemingly skyrocketed following the recent COVID-19 pandemic. This project created a smart phrase in the electronic medical record summarizing weight loss medications currently available on the market to transform patient counseling and enable better shared decision making between patients and providers.

Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA), previously known as Churg Strauss syndrome, is a rare small vessel vasculitis characterized by asthma, eosinophilia, and systemic involvement. This case report presents a 51-year-old man with a history of asthma, who presented with neurological symptoms including blurring of vision, bilateral ptosis, and altered sensorium. The patient had a previous history of cervical and lumbar spine surgeries for symptoms attributed to spondylosis. Further examination revealed hyperpigmented lesions on the limbs, wasting of small muscles, and foot drop.

Here we present a rare case of infective endocarditis (IE) with Streptococcus canis and Chiari network in an 85 year old female living with multiple dogs and open skin of lower extremity predisposing her to bacteremia. Underlying abnormalities of the cardiac chambers such as Chiari network predisposes to a higher incidence of bacterial seeding and causing IE. A Chiari network is usually asymptomatic and of no clinical significance but can worsen prognosis in IE. Inverse psoriasis is a clinical variant of psoriasis involving flexural or intertriginous areas of the body. Inverse psoriasis may be present in 3 to 36% of psoriasis patients. Lesions are clinically characterized as smooth, well-demarcated, erythematous plaques (raised, >1 cm) without the typical silvery scales of classic psoriasis. Differential diagnosis includes tinea infection, candidiasis, seborrheic dermatitis, or bacterial streptococcal infection. The clinical images in this review focus on identifying inverse psoriasis along the full spectrum of skin tones.
