Although rare, subungual carcinoma is the most common malignant nail tumor. The symptomatology is not characteristic, being very similar to that of other nail and periungual diseases. For this reason, early diagnosis is usually established by performing a biopsy. With appropriate treatment, subungual carcinoma usually has a favorable prognosis. Metastatic cases are rarely encountered, but they usually have a poor therapeutic result. This article presents the case of a patient with subungual carcinoma (diagnosed by histopathological exam), initially treated by amputation of the distal and middle phalanges of the fourth finger. Case Presentation: Early diagnosis and rapid treatment of cancer is essential for good clinical outcomes for patients. In this case, an 85-year-old man presented with failure to thrive and was noted to have rapid-onset, multiple seborrheic keratoses (Leser-Trélat sign) on his chest and back. He was ultimately diagnosed with pancreatic cancer using computed tomography.

Discussion: Leser-Trélat sign is a rare cutaneous marker for underlying malignancy. Identification of this sign can help guide diagnostic imaging and lab work to identify an occult internal malignancy, resulting in more rapid diagnosis, earlier treatment, and potentially better clinical outcomes.

Introduction:

Mastocytosis, a clonal proliferation of mast cells commonly involving the skin and bone marrow, has a varied clinical presentation ranging from cutaneous lesions to systemic disease. Cutaneous mastocytosis is managed symptomatically, but systemic mastocytosis is treated with targeted therapy against the mutated receptor tyrosine kinase c-KIT, the pathogenic driver of mastocytosis. However, there are no guidelines for the treatment of cutaneous mastocytosis refractory to symptomatic management.

We herein report a method to select genetically informed therapy for symptomatic and recalcitrant cutaneous mastocytosis.

Introduction: Chronic UV radiation affects the entire area of skin exposed, leading to visible actinic keratoses (AK) and subclinical changes in the surrounding skin. AKs are hyperkeratotic lesions, with a 0.025-16% risk of transforming into squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).1 Cellular atypia around AKs is the field of cancerization (FOC). Topical AK therapies can treat the FOC, while destructive treatments address visible lesions. FDA-approved products may be approved for field sizes up to 25 cm2.1,2

Introduction: The increased incidence of cutaneous melanoma (CM) and Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) in patients with hematologic malignancies (HM) is well established. While the risk of CM has been assessed in some subtypes of HM including cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, the incidence in patients with primary cutaneous B-cell lymphoma (PCBCL) has not been interrogated.

Methods: Here we evaluated the standardized incidence ratio (SIR) of CM and MCC in 5,179 PCBCL patients compared to approximately 1.5 billion individuals in the general population using the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database. BACKGROUND: Talin-1 as a component of multi-protein adhesion complexes plays a role in tumor formation and migration in various malignancies. This study investigated Talin-1 in protein levels as a potential prognosis biomarker in skin tumors.

METHODS: Talin-1 was evaluated in 106 skin cancer (33 melanomas and 73 non-melanomas skin cancer (NMSC)) and 11 normal skin formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue samples using immunohistochemical technique on tissue microarrays (TMAs). The association between the expression of Talin-1 and clinicopathological parameters, as well as survival outcomes, were assessed.
