Emotion Regulation Strategies And Perceived Emotional Intelligence: The Effect Of Age., Iwanna Sepiadou

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between perceived emotional intelligence and the reported use of cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression. We also investigated the possible effects of age on the aforementioned variables. The total sample consisted of 379 people (158 men, 220 women, 1 unreported). Across participants, 273 were young (20-39 years old) and 106 were middle-aged (40-65 years old). Dercum’S Disease: The Clinical Presentation, Diagnosis, Radiological Findings, And Treatment Of A Rare, Debilitating Inflammatory Disorder, Obyda Al-Housni, Constantinos Boufeas, Valori Slane

Introduction
Dercum’s disease, also known as adiposis dolorosa, is a rare syndrome characterized by the growth of multiple, and painful, subcutaneous adipose tissues that commonly present in the abdomen and extremities. The scientific community hypothesizes that Dercum’s disease is a combination of neurologic and endocrine disorders. Patients commonly describe it as chronic adipose pain, which manifests as sporadic painful flares throughout their history with the disease.

Collaboration has emerged as a pivotal element within an intentional person-centred healthcare framework. However, there is a need for evaluative feedback from patients to enhance interprofessional collaboration and its outcomes. The objective of this review was to describe the state of knowledge on the perspectives of patients living with a chronic condition regarding their experiences of interprofessional collaboration. This proposal advocates for implementing mandatory mindfulness and stress reduction training sessions for surgical students at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). It is well-documented that medical students, particularly those in surgical disciplines, experience high levels of stress, which can negatively impact their mental health, academic performance and overall well-being. Mindfulness-based interventions have shown promise in reducing stress and enhancing resilience among medical students. Background
With recent changes made to move USMLE Step 1 and COMLEX Level 1 scores to Pass/Fail, it becomes necessary to find other metrics to evaluate residency candidates. One conserved metric included in all residency applications is medical school transcripts. This study aims to highlight the highly varied transcript reporting in a new era of holistic applicant review.
Methods
Medical school transcripts were extracted from the Electronic Residency Application Service applications to our anesthesiology residency program for the 2021-2022 application cycle. This project explores the implementation of Student Success Coaches at Augusta Technical College (Augusta Tech) and their potential impact on the rates of overall program completion and the rate of diverse student program completion. Framed within the GROW model and Sociocultural Learning Theory, the project aims to determine if coaching interventions address barriers to completion and foster a supportive learning environment. A mixed-methods exploratory approach was employed, combining empirical data such as retention rates and demographics with qualitative information from surveys. My first involvement with JCIPE programs was with the Interprofessional Palliative Care (IPC) program. Here, I was able to meet diverse students across Jefferson from Couple and Family Therapy, Medicine, Nursing, Physical Therapy, and more. Together, we addressed case studies with our various backgrounds and learned how to build upon each other’s strengths as a precursor to our future in the field. Interprofessional education (IPE) has become an increasingly necessary component of healthcare and health science curricula (Institute of Medicine, 2015; World Health Organization, 2010). Live action clinical role-plays are one of many types of simulated learning experiences that can be crafted for undergraduate and graduate students alike when learning to collaborate interprofessionally. Introduction
Assessing and addressing possible deficiencies in medical school training is important for residency programs. Due to virtual rotations and low patient volumes, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted medical students’ opportunities to practice patient communication. Communication skills are essential for medical students and residents. Continuous participation in communication training can increase the self-efficacy of healthcare professionals. Due to the likely impact of COVID-19, we designed and implemented a tailored workshop that focused on increasing 16 incoming family medicine interns’ level of comfort communicating with patients and their families.

Background: Fecal occult blood tests (FOBT) are inappropriately used in patients with melena, hematochezia, coffee ground emesis, iron deficiency anemia, and diarrhea. The use of FOBT for reasons other than screening for colorectal cancer is considered low-value and unnecessary. Methods: Quality Improvement Project that utilized education, Best Practice Advisory (BPA) and modification of order sets in the electronic health record (EHR). The interventions were done in a sequential order based on the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) method. An annotated run chart was used to analyze the collected data. Despite being categorized as an activity of daily living since the first edition of the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework, no Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) standards exist to provide guidance on teaching occupational therapy students about sexual activity as an activity of daily living (ADL). When discussed, sexual activity is usually taught via didactic lecture, but is a subject that would benefit from a skills-based approach to teaching. Urban farming can enhance the lives of communities and help reduce food scarcity. This paper presents a conceptual prototype of an efficient urban farming community that can be scaled for a single apartment building or an entire community across all global geoeconomics regions, including densely populated cities and rural, developing towns and communities. When deployed in coordination with smart crop choices, local farm support, and efficient transportation then the result isn’t just sustainability, but also increasing fresh produce accessibility, optimizing nutritional value, eliminating the use of ‘forever chemicals’, reducing transportation costs, and fostering global environmental benefits.

Background: Given the extensive use of e-learning, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, a validated instrument is deemed important for continuous evaluation. This study aimed to measure health profession education students’ satisfaction toward the e-learning process within all health sciences cluster (HSC) courses, following further validation of the satisfaction scale for the e-learning process.
Methods: A cross-sectional study using an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was conducted to validate the 29-item Indonesian version of the satisfaction scale for the e-learning process. That the validated tool was used to measure 2,471 students’ satisfaction toward the e-learning process.

Background: Peripheral intravenous catheter (PIVC) failure and difficult intravenous access (DIVA) are pervasive issues causing patient suffering and increased costs. Despite their prevalence, there is a gap in internal medicine and pediatric resident training to manage these challenges effectively.

Purpose: Social prescribing is a core part of healthcare policy within the NHS and requires support and contributions from all healthcare professionals, including Allied Healthcare Professionals (AHPs). The well-established medical student-led social prescribing student champion scheme (SPSCS) has been expanded to include AHPs, and AHP champions were recruited to deliver peer-led activities focused on social prescribing. This article aimed to evaluate the impact of the scheme's expansion on AHP students. Method: Fourteen AHP champions ran 21 activities that reached 524 students. Introduction: Intravenous (IV) vancomycin requires therapeutic drug monitoring and line placement and may prolong hospital stay. Linezolid requires less monitoring, is orally bioavailable, and may expedite transitions of care. This study assessed the impact of a pharmacist-led antibiotic timeout for the transition from IV vancomycin to oral linezolid. Methods: This single-center, quasi-experimental study included admitted adult patients receiving IV vancomycin for over 48 hours. Patients receiving vasopressors, of immunocompromised status, or with specific antibiotic indications were excluded. The primary outcome was the pharmacist intervention acceptance rate. Purpose: Current guidelines recommend debriefing following medical resuscitations to improve patient outcomes. The goal of this study was to describe national trends in postresuscitation debriefing practices among pediatric critical care medicine (PCCM) fellows to identify potential gaps in fellow education.
Methods: A 13-item survey was distributed to fellows in all 76 ACGME-accredited PCCM programs in the United States in the spring of 2021. The online survey addressed frequency and timing of debriefings following medical resuscitations, whether formal training is provided, which medical professionals are present, and providers’ comfort level leading a debriefing. Suicide is a leading cause of death in the United States, and many individuals who die by suicide are likely to have seen a primary care physician (PCP) within the month of their death. Dissemination and Implementation (D&I) science trainings are essential to build knowledge among a variety of current and future health professionals.
The objective of this study was to pilot-test and assess implementation of a nutrition-specific D&I science training.
Participants (students enrolled in nutrition and public health programs) completed pre/post surveys and exit interviews. Postgraduate surgical training has evolved over centuries as a result of changes in the community, advances in medicine, technological innovations, and the theoretical basis of training and education. The recent pandemic has had a significant effect on postgraduate surgical training. Training has been provided virtually, which has negatively affected the relationship between trainers and trainees. While virtual training has provided a solution for geographical barriers, it did not provide a similar training experience compared to face-to-face interactions.
