Background: Lengthy therapeutic regimens in leprosy are prone to defaults, contributing to more antibiotic-resistant Mycobacterium. Intervening patients’ medical habits midway would be more complicated than understanding their perception of undergoing such regimens in advance. We study the factors considered relevant to leprosy patients’ compliance to construct a novel self-reporting questionnaire that can predict the patients’ adherence before initiating multidrug therapy.

An intact barrier function of the skin is important in maintaining skin health. The regulation of the skin barrier depends on a multitude of molecular and immunological signaling pathways. By examining the regulation of a healthy skin barrier, including maintenance of the acid mantle and appropriate levels of ceramides, dermatologists can better formulate solutions to address issues that are related to a disrupted skin barrier. This benchmark project intends to decrease the rate of surgical site infections related to cesarean procedures with vaginal preparation through an evidence-based approach. Vaginal preparation is a simple technique that cleanses the vaginal walls by removing microorganisms. The goal of the benchmark project is to promote the implementation of a vaginal preparation policy across any healthcare facility that performs cesarean procedures. Vaginal preparation is intended for scheduled cases, add-on cases, and urgent cases. The benchmark study does not include emergent cesarean deliveries, as vaginal preparation is at the discretion of the physician in those cases.

Pigmented purpuric lichenoid dermatitis (PPLD) is a rare subtype of pigmented purpuric dermatosis, which classically presents with a mixture of lichenoid papules and patches on the bilateral lower extremities. Herein, we describe an unusual case of a 47-year-old man with PPLD who presented with 1-3mm discrete papules without the presence of larger patches. The diagnosis of PPLD should be considered for patients presenting with bilateral symmetric discrete papules on the legs.

Introduction: Mixed cryoglobulinemia syndrome (MCS) is a systemic inflammatory syndrome affecting small-medium sized vessels due to the presence of type II or III cryoglobulins in the serum. MSC can manifest as systemic vasculitis with symptoms varying from weakness, arthralgia, palpable purpura, peripheral neuropathy, and renal involvement. The most common cause of MCS includes lymphoproliferative disorders, autoimmune diseases and viral infections, with hepatitis C virus (HCV) being the most common etiology.

Patients with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) have a poor prognosis and high relapse rate due to limited therapeutic options. This study was conducted to determine the mechanisms of action of panobinostat, a pan-inhibitor of histone deacetylase (HDAC) and FDA-approved medication for multiple myeloma, in TNBC and to provide a rationale for effective drug combinations against this aggressive disease. Nevoid hyperkeratosis of the nipple and areola (NHKNA) is a rare cutaneous entity with a distinct clinical and histological presentation. The type II form of this condition can result from various dermatoses, such as irritant contact dermatitis. Erosive papulonodular dermatitis is a chronic irritant dermatitis that often occurs in areas of occlusion and maceration, such as peristomal skin. Previous studies showed that autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) perineural blind injection can stimulate leprosy sensory nerve regeneration. Our study provided a safer and more accurate PRP agent delivery method through ultrasound-guided injection and was the first to compare PRP versus standard neuropathy treatment, the neurotropic vitamin. Introduction: The purpose of this evidence-based practice Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project was to prospectively evaluate the ability to alter the behavior of young adults by providing sunscreen education and thereby reduce their risk of skin cancer from sun exposure. Twenty-three collegiate athletes ages 18 to 21 years old who were on the university softball team were enrolled.
