Background: Pancreatic Solid Pseudopapillary Neoplasms (SPNs) are rare low-grade malignant tumors with a marked preponderance for young females. Objective was to describe the morphology, differential diagnosis, and prognosis of SPNs in patients under 20 years of age and present a detailed review of literature.
Methods: A total of 29 cases in patients under 20 years of age reported as SPN during the period January 2014 to December 2019, were included in the study. Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a myeloproliferative disorder characterized by immature granulocytes in peripheral blood and bone marrow. In 95% of cases, it is always due to the presence of Philadelphia chromosome characterized by the presence of reciprocal translocation between chromosome 9 and 22. Tuberculosis involving almost any organ of the body is a major problem in developing countries. The most commonly affected site in tuberculosis is the lung. Of the extra pulmonary tuberculosis, musculoskeletal involvement accounts for 1-5% of the cases. Muscular involvement in tuberculosis is a rare manifestation of extra pulmonary tuberculosis. Unusual presentations often go undetected and are associated with a diagnostic and therapeutic delay. This case report presents tuberculosis of the flexor carpi radialis.

BACKGROUND: PET quantitative myocardial perfusion requires correction for partial volume loss due to one-dimensional LV wall thickness smaller than scanner resolution.

METHODS: We aimed to assess accuracy of risk stratification for death, MI, or revascularization after PET using partial volume corrections derived from two-dimensional ACR and three-dimensional NEMA phantoms for 3987 diagnostic rest-stress perfusion PETs and 187 MACE events. NEMA, ACR, and Tree phantoms were imaged with Rb-82 or F-18 for size-dependent partial volume loss. Spinal Cord Ischemia Following Endovascular Repair Of Infrarenal Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm: A Rare Complication, Abdelrahman Attili Md, Alberto Gonzalez

Introduction:

Paralysis secondary to spinal cord ischemia following Endovascular repair of infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm is extremely rare complication, the reported incidence in the literature is 0.21%.

Case report:

Our patient is an 85-year old female patient who presented to the emergency department with abdominal pain radiating to the back. Abdominal examination showed mild epigastric tenderness. Laboratory work up was within the normal limits, and she had Computed Tomography Angiography of the abdomen and pelvis which showed impending rupture of 5.8 cm abdominal aortic aneurysm. The anatomic configuration of the AAA fulfilled the requirements for EVAR.

Background

HIV-positive patients on anti-retroviral therapy (ART) are at higher risk of developing many non-AIDS related chronic diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), compared to HIV-negative individuals. While the mechanisms are not clear, a persistent pro-inflammatory state appears to be a key contributing factor. The aims of this study were to investigate whether HIV-positive patients without COPD present evidence of potentially predisposing abnormal pulmonary cytokine/chemokine environment and to explore the relationship between pulmonary and systemic cytokine levels.

Methods

Objective: To determine the use of pefloxacin as a surrogate marker to detect fluoroquinolone (ciprofloxacin) susceptibility against Salmonella enterica serotypes Typhi and Paratyphi A.
Methods: The prospective, descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, from September 2016 to March 2018, and comprised Salmonella Typhi and Paratyphi A isolates of blood cultures. Disk susceptibility tests and broth microdilution to test minimum inhibitory concentration were performed as per standard guidelines. Data was analysed using SPSS 21.
