Abstract

Aim: To compare the success rate regarding esthetics, parenteral satisfaction, and oral health related quality of life (OHRQoL) after treatment of early childhood caries with Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF)compared to conventional Glass ionomer Restoration (CGI).

Materials and Methods: We conducted a systematic review following PRISMA statement by searching on the following electronic databases: PubMed, Cochrane.

Results: From the studies included in this systematic review, two studies showed significant difference in color stability between SDF and CGI. Two studies showed no significant difference in parental satisfaction with either SDF or Glass Ionomer. Regarding the Oral Health Related Quality of Life, …

Abstract:

Introduction: Orthodontist tend to use one of the 2 bracket slot sizes available either the 0.018” or 0.022” bracket slot. Till now there is no reliable scientific evidence that indicates if any of them has a superior effect on the duration of teeth alignment. The aim of this study is to compare alignment duration between 0.018 and 0.022-inch bracket slot systems.

Subjects and methods: 14 Eligible participants having an age range of 14-22 years were randomly allocated to 2 groups (7 in each group). Group I: 0.018-inch and Group II: 0.022-inch slot (American orthodontics Mini master Roth prescription …

ABSTRACT

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy and reliability in measuring anchorage loss, molar rotation, and total amount of retraction using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and to compare them with the same measurements obtained using digitally scanned dental models. Materials and methods: 24 patients requiring comprehensive orthodontic treatment including extraction of 1st premolars with maximum anchorage using enmasse retraction. CBCTs were undertaken on the same 24 patients using InVivoDental software for measurement. The digital cast was made using alginate impressions, from which virtual 3D models will be created and measured using 3Shape analyzer software. Orthodontic measurements will …

Measuring Accuracy Of Dolphin Imaging Software In Predicting Upper Jaw Soft Tissue Profile Changes In Class Ii Adult Patients Treated With Extraction Versus Non-Extraction., Amr Amin Arif, Esam Nasef, Amira Aboalnaga May 2024

Measuring Accuracy Of Dolphin Imaging Software In Predicting Upper Jaw Soft Tissue Profile Changes In Class Ii Adult Patients Treated With Extraction Versus Non-Extraction., Amr Amin Arif, Esam Nasef, Amira Aboalnaga

Future Dental Journal

Abstract

Objective: To assess the accuracy of Dolphin Imaging software in predicting upper jaw profile changes in class II patients treated by extraction and non-extraction.

Methods: The records of 60 Class II div 1 patients were selected; 30 patients treated by extraction of upper first premolar and 30 patients treated by non-extraction. The Pre- and post-treatment lateral cephalometric x-rays of each patient were traced using Dolphin software. The actual hard tissue changes due to treatment were calculated and installed into the prediction module to generate the predicted profile. The soft tissue measurements of the actual post-treatment and predicted profiles were …

Smear Layer Removal Using Two Different Ni-Ti Instruments With Two Different Irrigating Systems. An Invitro Study, Tasneem Mohamed Reyad, Wael Ahmed Hessein, Ahmed Abdelrahman Hashem Ah, Said Abd Elhafiz

Future Dental Journal

Objectives: To evaluate and compare smear layer removal in root canals instrumented with two single Ni-Ti rotary instruments with two different irrigating systems. Materials and Methods: Sixty recently extracted single-rooted mandibular premolars teeth were decoronated to a standardized length of 14 mm. Roots were divided into two main groups (n=30) according to the rotary NiTi file used for instrumentation either with One Shape (OS) file or with One Curve file (OC). Each main group was subdivided into three subgroups according to the methods used to agitate the irrigating solutions either sonically or ultrasonically as following: Group A was subdivided into …

Aim of the Study: The aim of the current study was to investigate the effect of silver diamine fluoride on micro-tensile bond strength of composite to dentin and on the bonding mechanism of dentin surface on primary and permanent teeth. Material and methods: This study included two groups: group 1 included twenty-four primary molars and group 2 included twenty-four premolars. Each group was further subdivided equally into sub-group A and sub-group B. Sub-groups A of each group were treated with a self-etch bonding system and 4-mm thick buildups of composite were placed with increments limited to 1 mm. Subgroups B …

Correlation Between Gingival Redness And Oral Health Related Quality Of Life In A Group Of Egyptian Children At New Giza University, Fayrouz Saber, Manal Ahmed Al Sayed, Ola Moustafa Omar Jan 2024

Correlation Between Gingival Redness And Oral Health Related Quality Of Life In A Group Of Egyptian Children At New Giza University, Fayrouz Saber, Manal Ahmed Al Sayed, Ola Moustafa Omar

Future Dental Journal

Introduction: The concept of oral health related quality of life (OHRQoL) is of great significance in the three areas of dental health, in particular the clinical practice of dentistry, research, and education. The reported prevalence of gingivitis in various developed countries is considered high. This rate escalates with the increase in age, especially around puberty. There is evidence that gingivitis is associated with the children’s OHRQoL as there are common risk factors between gingivitis’ of adolescence and their consequent OHRQoL.

Aim: This study aims to evaluate the correlation between gingival redness as evaluated by digital photographs and oral health related …

Introduction: Antimicrobial resistance is one of the ten threats identified by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2019, since it affects modern healthcare and the effective prevention and treatment of an ever-increasing range of infections. Recent estimates of the burden of antimicrobial resistance are very significant, with more than half a million cases of infection with selected antibiotic-resistant bacteria or new emerging resistant pathogens occurring in Europe; of note, data regarding antimicrobial resistance in low-income countries are largely unknown, increasing the overall risk of mortality, in particular in surgical procedures

Aim: The aim of the study was to evaluate the …

Aim: The present study aimed to investigate the correlation between dental caries and its consequences in terms of pulp involvement, ulceration, fistula, abscess utilizing (PUFA/pufa) indices and specific Body Mass Index (BMI) with reference to age in a group of Egyptian Children

Subjects and Methods: A total of 201 children (101 female and 100 male) from Pediatric Dentistry Department in Cairo University having PUFA/pufa ≥1 were included. According to the standard procedure, the PUFA/pufa index was utilized to evaluate the effect of untreated dental decay. Using standardized scales, the children weight and height were calculated. The BMI percentile was …

Trueness Of Milled Zirconia Versus Milled Hybrid Composite Crowns Designed For Primary Teeth Restoration Compared To The Digitally Designed File: An In Vitro Study., Joy Elian Hayek, Hani Tohme, Lara Nasr, Ghida Lawand, Roula El Hachem, Nada Farhat Mchayleh

International Arab Journal of Dentistry

Purpose: Stainless Steel Crowns (SSC) are not easily replaced by Zirconia Prefabricated Crowns (ZPC) because of their adaptation problem and risk of fracture and loosening. This study aimed to assess and compare the trueness of milled zirconia and milled hybrid composite crowns designed for primary teeth restoration to a digitally designed file.

Methods: Fourteen extracted primary molars were scanned using an intraoral scanner to obtain digital files of the teeth. The digital files were imported into the Design dental software (TDS) and used to design and mill zirconia and hybrid composite crowns using a 4-axis milling machine: 14 zirconia crowns …
