Officials from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) created the hospital valued-based purchasing (VBP) program focused on controlling cost, inefficiencies, and quality-of-care. Hospital leaders are incentivized or penalized based on meeting quality outcomes and risk millions of dollars in reimbursement if they do not meet the quality-of-care standards specified in the CMS hospital VBP program. Grounded in the transformational leadership theory, the purpose of this qualitative multiple case study was to explore strategies hospital leaders used to improve patient satisfaction to increase VBP performance-based reimbursements. Introduction: Nursing bedside shift report is a recommended strategy to promote the effective exchange of accurate patient information during the handoff process with the goal of decreasing communication errors and adverse patient events. However, adopting this handoff method into nursing practice has been challenging in the clinical setting. Patient satisfaction is perceived as a significant benefit of hospitals’ investments in health information exchange (HIE). Successful implementation of HIE systems lead to increased organizational efficiency in hospitals and more likely to enable doctors and other staff members to better meet patient needs and expectations. This research draws upon system success theory to examine how HIE adoption affects patient satisfaction. In addition, this research investigates whether the relationship between HIE adoption and patient satisfaction is mediated by organizational efficiency. Different types of medical imaging are increasingly being used to explain specific aspects of injuries to patients during consultations. However, there are no validated questionnaires available yet that specifically measure patients’ satisfaction with the use of such images. The objective of this study was to develop and evaluate a patient-centred measure of satisfaction with the use of medical imaging modalities in clinical treatment. The introduction of the Electronic Health Records (EHRs) for maternity services in Ireland provided an opportunity to examine patient satisfaction and to examine what patients require from an Electronic Health Record. The implementation of the EHR in Ireland started in 2016, and at present, four of the 19 maternity units are digital. Patients at antenatal booking visits in an Irish maternity unit were invited to participate in the project. The invite was taken up by 201 women. The survey took 10-15 minutes to complete. The literature suggests that positive distractions, such as pet therapy and single-user electronic devices, may aid in reducing anxiety and maximizing patient satisfaction throughout the patient’s experience at a pediatric outpatient clinic. For inclusion, articles were required to describe an embedded strategy for capturing patient experiences that was used to inform quality improvement in a hospital setting. The COVID-19 pandemic prompted the immediate widespread implementation of virtual care appointments in Cancer Care Alberta (CCA). This study aimed to compare patient experiences and satisfaction with in-person care provided prior to the pandemic and virtual care provided after the COVID-19 outbreak. Surveys were conducted to compare patient satisfaction, using the Your Voice Matters (YVM) experience survey, between patients in the pre-pandemic in-person (baseline) and post-outbreak (virtual) cohorts. Purpose: There has been increasing interest in patient-reported experience measures (PREMs) to evaluate the patient experience and satisfaction with care. We conducted a prospective multicenter cohort study to determine any association between patients’ satisfaction of care and their outcomes 1 year after lumbar spine surgery.

Methods: Satisfaction with care was recorded through telephone interviews and a standardized questionnaire. Baseline data collection (300 patients) and 1-year follow-up (209 patients) were conducted through The Swedish National Register for Spine Surgery (Swespine). Background: Noise has been linked to negative impacts on patient’s rest, length of stay (LOS), the immune system’s ability to fight infections, pain and anxiety levels, and readmission rates. Quality improvement projects in non-intensive care units are needed to determine major causes of noise and factors which impact patients’ rest, perception of noise, and satisfaction with medical-surgical unit care.

This thesis project reviews how nursing care, specifically that of nursing assistance, impacts patient satisfaction. Care provided to patients during hospitalization is scored by post-discharge surveys. For this project, the HCAHP survey is specifically referred to and discussed. The survey data obtained from the HCAHP survey is available to the public for review. This data can affect the population's outlook on healthcare organizations. Research has found that care provided by nursing assistants has an impact on the satisfaction of patients. Research in the area of improving patient satisfaction is lacking in data and tools for improvement.

AbstractPatient satisfaction associated with the use of telemedicine for patient care may be subjective as it may not reflect the patients' comfort and willingness to use telemedicine. Even though current perceptions of telemedicine may be positive, the challenge is knowing what constitutes the ingredients of patient satisfaction, particularly regarding age.
